Well, I think there are more forums where all the members are from the same country than ther are international ones like this and TN. So you're right, a great deal are like this, but I think they are still a minority.

LOL, well, this forum is fairly unusual in that it's English speaking only and most of the members are not English!!

I'm not surprised about Exalt and Smite, I think most non native English would have trouble defining those words. But what I meant was that Bless and curse are much more obvious (curse is probably more obvious than condemn) and we should make their functions obvious and not worry too much about what the word actually means in 'the real world'. Bless and condemn are OK, though, I reckon.
Andy.
p.s. The only time I've heard Exalt used other than here is in a hymn, and the only time I've heard smite is in Lord of the Rings!!

What about 'big up' and 'dis'? Andy. Seriously, though, I think we're all aware of what the feature does, so there's no need to read too much into the actual words used.

Or, perhaps some people didn't understand the meaning of the terms Exalt or Smite! After all, they are a little biblical!
I must say, I don't like the fact the karma points have changed from numbers to blobs. Now it will take a few points to add or remove a blob. Before you could see when someone's status had changed point by point.
Are these blobs up to a maximum number? and are everyone's 'blobs' shown relative to the highest karma (i.e. Mike's 6 blobs) or just 1 blob = 5 points?

My ability to give Karma has disappeared. Is that because I've given Karma in the last hour? I didn't know if you only have one to give per hour, or one per hour per member. I guess it's the former. Andy.

I log into the forum with a permanent cookie, but obviously I still have to provide a password for the private forum. Without entering that password each time I visit this forum I see no data for the private area. Once I have entered the private area with the password, I can come out and see the forum data. Once I close my browser and re-visit the info is gone again.

The top 50 table loos different to me as well. Has borders around it ant the writing is slightly bigger. Not a problem to me, though, I have 1600x1200 I use MSIE A very minor dislike, though, that you have to log in to the private area to see if anyone's posted there. The main forum list doesn't show you the last time anyone posted unless you log in. OK, so it only takes me an extra 10 seconds, but time is precious! Andy.

It'll take some getting used to, for example, I keep scrolling through the pages of a theread when I used my mouse scroll button, but I like what I've seen, especially the breadcrumbs back to the topic sections at the top, the quick reply and the birthdays. Mine's in 2 days! Shame there's no smileys in the quick reply, though. Andy.

I think that one of the main reasons for the slowdown on the forum is that a lot of the members that have been here for a while are slowing their collecting (because they have 'completed' or are near completion) and it's the discussion of new purchases that makes up the bulk of the posts. Less purchases = less posts. The other types of discussions like 'does this game exist' still happen but with the same members here and not many new members appearing, these sort of discussions have been covered over and over. We need new members to increase posts, although that will mean a repetition of what has already been discussed in some cases. Advertising the forum must be the key.

They keep saying it's going to snow, and February is about the right time in the UK. Is snow in Greece common? I wouldn't have thought so.

Forget it, I just realised that's the wrong option. You were right, pulse8 that option is for any members. The one I should have been using was "Search all posts by:"
doh!

Hi Mike
I was looking for an old post of mine, so I used the 'Search all posts by member' option on the search page, but it doesn't seem to work, it just lists all posts by any member.
Also, what do you feel about having an off-topic forum? Some forums have off-topic areas and in others O/T posts are not allowed at all. The reason I was wondering is because I wanted to ask someone for help in re-designing my website, and I know there are a lot of good G&W sites, so someone must be able to help me. If anyone's reading this, PM me if you'd like to help!
Andy.
