I can see Rene's point, that now we have a very desirable prize, this is now open to possible cheating and/or fighting. I assume that polls will only accept votes from a member once? And what about new members? What's stopping people joining as an alias and voting for themselves?
Last question for the moment; where do we post our photos? In this thread? Or will you create a thread dedicated to the entries?
Andy.

Hmmm ... I hadn't even thought of this before René brought it up. I mean, come on ... we're all adults and we know eachother pretty well. I also think it's near to impossible to cheat. It will obviously draw a lot of attention if a design gets votes from members that just registered. We will watch the voting closely. Besides, I think Mike can see the IP addresses of all registered members. He will be able to see who's who.
Anyway, if many of you are really afraid of cheating, riots, hatred, etc. then maybe we should call it off?

No, no, no, no NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Don't call it off. It's too much fun to call it off.
I never meant to throw a black shadow over the competition with my remarks. I just answered your question, if I thought the prices were great.
I'm very curious to see the results.
But heeeeee, lets be carefull outthere.

If anyone tries to cheat, believe me, I'll know! Btw, I've thought of a few ways we can avoid any such case but they will be announced later!
Andy, I think we can use this thread for the designs. If the designs span across many pages, I'll create links when people will be requested to vote, for easier viewing.

Okay, so everything is settled then! ;D Does everyone agree on a voting period of exactly 2 weeks after December 27th? Regards, sAner also since the winner is drawn in 2006, wont they be the winner of the 2006 comp? -B ;D Nope ... as the designs are made in 2005. sAner

Also is said person wins the 2005 comp, and theres a 2006 comp and they win that, then what is the "title"?
Since some submission are going to require many photos etc, and these photos are stored on external sites, wont it be easy for a compeditor to "update" the image on external server, without modifying origional post here in the forum? (i.e cheat)
Maybe a few general picture of the submission have to be sent to someone to prove photos have not been modified after the submission date? I'd like to run a full webpage externally for my entry, showing lots of pics etc, and others may wish to do te same. So we need someway to stop pics from getting updated after the deadline?

No matter if the pics are posted here or on an external website - on the deadline everybody simply can take screenshots or even save the page with the pictures locally to the hard disk. So, if a contender would make any changes after the end date, others would notice, or not?

I don't see why changing your images after the deadline would help you, other than giving you more time, but I suppose I can see your point. Perhaps all submissions should be sent to Mike/Pieter and they can upload them somewhere?

The only thing you would gain is time (and you already had 4 weeks). Anyway, I have webspace enough so I would be happy to host all the pictures. Regards, sAner

I don't know if this is possible (or even desirable) but it would be quite fun if we could do the scoring a bit like they do for the "Eurovision Song contest". What I propose (and you can shoot me down in flames, I don't mind) is that forum members get to award points to ALL the entries on a sliding scale. So, if there are 10 entries you give 12 points to your favourite design, 10 points to the next favourite, 8 points to the 3rd, then 6 points/5/4/3/2/1 points. In this particular example the least favourite design would get "nul points" (harsh, but fair). We could all "PM" our scores to either Pieter or Michael. Or is this just mad? The *advantage* is that you (the voter) wouldn't be limited to voting for one design. Just a suggestion. Thoughts?

Seriously; I really think this is a very good idea as it will allow people to vote for all designs (even though one design will get 0 points ) and will make the contest more exciting. I was already thinking it would probably be extremely difficult to narrow your choice down to just one design. I think we should do it like this. Does everyone agree? I think every voter can just type their votes in a reply in the specific thread. I don't understand why the results should be PM-ed to Mike or me. I think the more visible the voting is, the better it is. Regards, sAner
