Have you tried pressing the batteries with your fingers in various ways and see if something appears on screen this way ?

Hey guys! I'm a new collecter, but not really a new member. I've been here and haven't posted. Anyway, I got my first 2 G&W's off Ebay today! Donkey Kong Hockey-Good condition, but the battery cover latch is broken, and it's a little scratched. Donkey Kong-Yes, both of my games are Donkey Kong-related. Well, the inside of this is in excellent condition, and the front metal plate only has a few scratches.

Hello all together! I'm new here but I'm not a fast collector I have 10 boxed games and a few without box. Collecting G&W is an expensive hobby and sometimes I wonder if collectors are rich? Or do they eat bread, drink water and live in a carton box to save money for the games? Anyway, G&W is cool! Happy collecting and greetings Patrick

Collecting doesn't have to be expensive as long as you don't insist on New in Box games. In fact, there hasn't been a better time to buy as long as you're OK with loose games or older boxes. I reckon you could get to 50 games quite cheaply, say £1000, and spread that over a year or so and you'll never notice it. It took me about 5 years to get to 59.

I once owned 58 games and didn't spend that much money on it. My collection wasn't anything fancy. But like Andy suggests; you don't need a load of money to get to 50 a 55 loose games or in average boxes. The last 5 to 10 games will probably cost you a small fortune though. Regards, sAner

Oh yes, I think prces for loose games have never been lower (on ebay, anyway) Of course, if you had started collecting back in the mid to late 1990's, you could have got a complete collection for a few quid at car boot sales. These have all dried up now and all boot sale fodder now goes on ebay instead.
See my new thread I'm posting about prices on ebay.
Andy.

Hello Patrick and welcome to the board! Prices have indeed gone down for mediocre-to-good games, boxed or not. On the other hand, mint boxed items usually end at ridiculous prices the latest months. If your plan is to get some nice games (but not completely mint), you won't have to pay a fortune and if you take your time, as Andy suggested, it won't seem like an impossible goal at all!
Patience is a virtue worth much money when collecting!

Hi Michael Well, I'm not in a hurry for collecting the games. So I hope to get them at reasonable prices Anyway, do you think that prices will go up again or will they stay down? Could it be, that the G&W hype is over...(?) Patrick

We have discussed that a few times in the past. Some of us (like me) think the g&w hype will be over some day and some others think not. I do think the interest will dry up after all the boys of the eighties turned 40 something. sAner
