Hi I just wanted to say hello as I am new to Game & Watch collecting. I thought it would be nice to have a topic were new collectors could post to say hello, and introduce themselves. I have started my collection with 4 purchases off ebay already in under a week, (I can see this isn't going to be a cheap 'hobby'! I have bought the following boxed items: Donkey Kong JR DJ-101 Fire FR-27 Snoopy Tennis SP-30 Oil Panic The first 3 I really didn't know what I was doing and kind of jumped in at the deep end and probably paid more than I should have. They are not in bad condition but could be better. I don't want to ramble on too much cause I want to try and keep this post short. I hope to have a website up and running soon (in my spare time inbetween work and searching ebay!). Where I will include my collection and a kind of blog which is updated as my collection and experience grows. Hopefully new collectors will find this helpful and interesting. Anyway I look forward to becoming an experienced and knowledgeable collector soon. No doubt hopefully some of you will help me along the way. James An addicted Game & Watch collector

Hello James and welcome,
it is indeed a jump at the deep end when you get to buy your first items. But you'll get the hang of it when you're browsing ebay for a bit. And there are other alternatives to get your items off course.
What items are you after? Anything specific, variations, all 60, ... ?
Enjoy the collecting!!

sAnders I just want to congratualte you on your excellent website, the interview section is a brilliant idea. Maybe one day my collection will be good enough for you to want to interview me . It was from your site that I found Michael's website, and this excellent forum. As to what I want to collect, the Game & Watch's that I can find in the best condition. To find some unique items that not many others have would be good, but at the moment I guess anything goes. Over the last week I have learnt to take my time while looking, but sometimes the excitment becomes too much!

Welcome James, Just wondered where you're from? UK, USA, OZ, Paraguay? Also, is your name a subtle "hommage" to our dearly beloved devster ;D Good luck with the collecting - It is a rocky road ahead (not for the faint-hearted) The current record for collecting all 60 games (boxed) is just under 2 months (it's that man again - Devster), but most people take about 18 months over it!! You've come to the right place.

Welcome aboard James! I'm sure people here will help you by giving you information about the games and possibly sell a few nice games to get you started.. Please check out my FAQ at www.geocities.com/gwfaq . You'll find lots of interesting information in there. Michael

Hi johnwiththewind
I am from the UK near Oxford, as to my name it is an unfortunate left over from my school days, which were a while ago!, and it refers to the tinned meat! (Don't ask).
I don't think I have enough money to complete a 60/60 collecton in under 2 months. It may take 2 months to collect but how long to perfect that collection?? Never?
I am off to search some car boot sales this weekend, from peoples experience is this a worthwhile pursuit. Also on other sites people mention ringing around toy stores. But surly this would have been done by collectors already, and surely they wouldn't have stock over 20 years old? Any pointers would be appreciated.
Anyway I see there is some good humour in the forum.

It was from your site that I found Michael's website, and this excellent forum. Thanks a lot for the comment James. It's nice to hear that people actually like what I am spending so much time on. I am also glad you found this fantastic forum. It's my task in life to drag as many people to this forum as possible. Seriously! Anyway I see there is some good humour in the forum. You can thank our two forum-fools (can't remember their names ... something with Jon and something with Dev) for that! You should check out the little video Jon made (the link is in this thread: mpanayiotakis.proboards19.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1091466990&start=60), it's hilarious! Don't you think he sounds like Hugh Grant!?!? sAner

Welcome Spam.
Geez, more darn poms!
I think most of us were probably guilty of overpaying for games when we first started collecting. It's hard to know how much different games are worth until you've been around for a while and gained experience in the area. We live and learn.
