I have many memories, mostly of playing other kids' games at school. I have a very distinct memory of playing someone else's Donkey Kong Jr in the back of a history class, would have been about 1982. I always wanted one of my own so when my birthday came along, I think this might have been 1983 when I was 13, my parents took me to W H Smith - a book, record and toy store back then - and we looked at all the games on sale. I remember it like it was yesterday - similar memories; shiny games in a tall glass cabinet. I remember playing Parachute and Turtle bridge in the shop. The games were GBP19.99 and my parents didn't think they were good value, and they thought that I would be better off buying something else. In the end, they bought me a CGL Puck Monster game, which ran on batteries and a mains adaptor. It cost GBP24.99 and I still have it All the other games I have bought were from much more recently, I started collecting around 1997/98. Andy You also owned a Lifeboat when you were a kid Andy, which you dropped in a lake! Regards, Pieter

Hi Dave,
Will the price for an English version of this book be the same as the price for the German version? Will the English version also be available in hard cover?
Thanks!
Pieter

Hey guys, I am down to 5/60 boxed and 6/60 loose. But the plan is that the games I now own are for keeps. sAner

But this can not be true, can it? Either that or I have been out of the scene for too long ...

Yes, I am wondering about that too. Where I come from (I was born in the NL in 1975) the most popular g&w's were -in random order-: Parachute nws, DK I, DKII, DK jr. nws, Fire nws & Mario Bros multiscreen.

That is not entirely true. I think we all agree blackjack and pinball are extremely boring, but those games are very common. And what about the micro vs games? Boring yet not rare. I always liked Egg and Flagman, which are also rarer games.

Hi there! You started off with my favourite game of all 60 g&w's! I hope you will succeed in getting all the games. Good luck! Will you collect loose games or boxes too?

Does this green manhole still work?
Do you all agree on the green fire?

I have read this thread with a lot of interest. On the one hand I can not believe Nintendo would release a faulty colored Manhole by accident. On the other hand I can not believe the inside of the case would discolor this evenly UNLESS someone tried to discolor the case on purpose. The outside of the case looks like it has gone through something ugly, to say the least. The inside looks pristine though. I don't know what to make of this. Strange ...

Marking the parcel with a low amount (let's say 40 euros, when in fact the real value is 500) is a real risk. A month ago I had to return a 498 euro costing watch to the inet shop in the UK ( I live in the NL) because it was faulty. I sent it in a arcel, got a track and trace number and it still got lost. I am glad I insured it upto 500 euros!

What can I say? NL should have been a four time worldcup winner (1974, 1978, 1998, 2010) and a three time european cup winner (1988, 1992, 2000) and all we have is just one lousy european cup. Just like Denmark and Greece. Still gutted over the worldcup loss 2 years ago. I really, really dislike Iniesta! Regards, Pieter
