Some of you may remember that I won an auction for a PS mario bros just before christmas. Well, it looks like it's gone missing The seller thankfully insured it and provided tracking information, and the tracking website (Canada post) states that it reached my local postal depot on the 3rd of January and was out for delivery on the 4th. A signature was required. It hasn't arrived yet. Ordinarily I'd say give it a while longer but having seen the information that it got as far as my local depot, I don't see how it could take this long to get to me from there. I even went up there and there was no sign of it in the office or on the computer. Luckily the seller is very helpful and is organising a refund, but it's not a very happy story, is it? Andy.

Strangely Andy, a small packet from the US for me has gone missing too. The seller shipped it via plain airmail (total cost item+shipping, $50) as I didn't think it was worth paying $10 more for registered mail, more than two months ago. Since I had never lost an item before, I didn't give it a lot of thought. And now, it's nowhere to be found.. The seller is professional, says he can do nothing about it, his feedback is almost perfect and there's no indication that he didn't ship the item. Go figure.
I blame the frantic situation in the post offices during the holidays for that. At least you'll get your money back but isn't it amazing that murphy's laws are so close to what happens in reality ? Just when you need an item bad, the exact same item goes missing!!
What excuse did they gave you at the post office ? Someone has to be blamed for this, for sure!

Andy, really not a very happy story...
There are several reasons why a parcel does not arrive:
- it fell down behind a shelf or behind a desk etc. and nobody sees it - when out for delivery, the staff lost it (it fell out off the truck or so) - if it was a reused box and still had old barcode stickers on it, the scanner did read the wrong one and the parcel is on its way back where it came from. This really does happen and the Swiss post writes on their website that customers should remove old barcode stickers! - it got stolen
I hope did does not happen too often!

Hi guys, I noticed the same thing regarding post shipment during the end of the year. Indeed, the packages I was waiting for took a lot more time than they usually took in the past. A month or so for package from the US. On the contrary packages from Japan arrived rather quickly. And I still have one package on the loose ... Hope it will arrive Cheers,

So sorry to hear your story Andy, It's another less PS in the world! On a similar topic, I'm still waiting for an item sent two months ago to be received. Funnily enough, It's also from the US. I'm giving it until the end of the month before I file a credit card chargeback or similar.

It looks as though I may still get this.....the seller has done some investigation and it appears that it is at a different depot, awaiting customs payment. I expected this, but what is strange is that I didn't get a letter, card, or phone call to tell me the package was being held. I've written a snotty email to the carrier. Now just have to find out how much I owe. Git's will probably slap a handling charge on top as well!
Andy.

Is that something British? I have received many parcels from overseas (including PS games from the UK and the US) and I was never, ever charged for customs payment.
Anyway, it IS good news though Andy! I hope you will have the ps game in your hands asap!

Pieter, were all those parcel's insured? It makes all the difference. If the seller insures it, it's virtually guaranteed to be stopped by customs in the UK. Anyway, I've just had to pay 47 quid VAT and duty, but I should be getting it tomorrow

Well, that's not strictly true. The tracking system can tell you when the package last moved, but that doesn't stop it falling off the back of the delivery person's bike and into the road! As it happens on this occasion, the tracking information was wrong, it told us it was out for delivery, when in fact it was being held for customs payment. All's well that ends well, though, I hope to have it in my hands this afternoon, I hope it's worth it! Andy.
