Hi guys and girls,
I have been away for a long time and am just picking up the thread of g&w life again (yes, I will update my site in the near future and yes, I will add that second part of the Taki-interview), but I noticed there are hardly any old-skoolers left. Where are they? Are they still around, but just don't visit the forum anymore?
I mean, Andy Cole is about the only real old skooler which is still present. If we bend the rules a bit, we could call Michael and Jon old skoolers, but that's about it, right?
Of course Taki and Torsten are still there, but that's about it, right?
Has somebody been in contact with guys like QJ & Tod Browning? My last contact with them dates back to april 2005.
Regards, Pieter

I guess the main reason is that people who have been collecting so long have bought everything that they want and are just not interested in 'the scene' anymore. There are exceptions, of course, as you've mentioned.
Andy.

Cedric visits from time to time but he never was a frequent poster anyway. Most guys I knew sold their games and vanished into thin air..

Hi All,
I haven't been collecting as early as Taki/Torsten yet I've been around for a while! I'm still buying/selling yet not as much as before as I'm mainly buying what I'm missing for my 59/60 collection and RARE items such as Pocketsize, Blisterpacks, Factory Boxes, etc now that I'm close to 60/60!

Hey, I've been here for two years in Jan/Feb!!!! I can't believe that! I haven't even been having fun so I don't know why it has passed so quickly Mind you, I just posted on another thread about a new collector and it makes you realise that for everyone that goes, someone else is there to take his place. I mean if you actually made a log (ooooh project for someone ) of all the bidders you see on ebay items, there must be loads and loads of collectors out there. Not forgetting the ones that you don't see very often because they may have got the bulk of their collection already. Then you have the Japenese scene where the collectors will rarely interact with us. There are Dutch, Swedish, Belgian, French, American, Canadian, Singaporean, Philippiano (Mitch ), Australian, New Zeland, Scottish and English collectors to name but a few. Not everything revolves around this forum. I think there are lot's of old skool people out there that we don't know about, especially in Japan. I know that you are refering to this forum Pieter, but I thought I'd open it up a bit Don't forget the people that are too shy to post on a forum. And there are those that collect but can't quite bring themselves to post, because it will be the final nail in the coffin, as they will then be an official 'nerd' if they do!!!!! Anyway, don't worry about the old skool (love ya really ), worry about the new skool!!!! Devster Out! © (Aris didn't copyright this, so I've nicked it )

When does someone become old skool? According to my profile I signed up here in April 2004, so I guess overall I've only been collecting for about 2 years as well....

Ahh yes, way back in August '03 was when I first got the bug, so that's just over two years now. I consider myself an "established" collector, but I'm sure I'll never be an Old Skooler... pulse8

@devster; I was indeed referring to this forum, but your reply makes sense (well ... sort of ... actually your replies never really make sense, but that's common knowledge I think! ). @the others; I guess it's just a feeling who you can call an old-skooler. I think for many people Mike & Jon are old-skoolers and for some other people even Paul will be considered an old-skooler. To me the people who 'always' have been around like Andy, Matt (QJ), Torsten, Taki, Marcel (Fuzgi) are the real old-skoolers. Many have disappeared and I guess others will become old-skoolers then. They just take their place. In my book, real old-skoolers were there when the YM-901s was discovered or the white Spitball. Everyone else, who came afterwards, are newbees. People who came after the the discovery of the boxed NOA Flag man and the boxed NOA DKH are super newbees. sAner Out! (---> drag my butt to court for violating your c-right Devy Devster!

Hi, I've been collecting since September 2002. I kinda feel like an old-skooler since the "G&W community" has changed a bit since I started collecting. I look at most collectors here as new (even Michael) so that probably make me ancient hehe. Anyways, I drop by here once in a while. I still consider myself a collector, but I seldom buy anything anymore... Still haven't decided if and when to sell my collection...

Hmm.. if you started collecting in September 2002 then we started at exactly the same time (maybe there's something wrong with the date ? )!

Wow, I'm a VERY old skooler then, I started on February or March 1999. My first one (except for the ones I played when I was 8 or 9), a great brand new Mario's Bombs Away !

Michael, I went totally mad on eBay for a couple of months and I hardly thought about anything else than G&W for a while... I guess you didn't have a website in the beginning or started to sell untill later. Sorry if I didn't notice that you were around, but I guess you didn't actually see me either ;-) It WAS September 2002.
