Mate, you should have flown accross the Tasman Sea and visted Tasmania, much the same..... very nice, and besides I live there. (here). Yer the camera looks sweet. I love the photography 2, got me a Canon 300D :-D I've been looking at the new 20D and drooling.. -B Sorry to drag this off topic but I'm sure sAner won't mind  Brandan, what's the 300D like? I was thinking of getting one. Thing is they're $800 in the US and 800 pounds over here (about $1500 equivalent). What a rip-off! What camera model do you have sAner? I'm guessing it's an SLR, because just having megapixels doesn't make images as nice as that. Andy.

When I bought it 2 years ago it cost me 1.100 euros. It has a super ccd chip and it stores pictures which consists of pixels with 8 edges. That's pretty unique and it gives the bright colors to the photos and the sharpness. Pixels with 8 edges allow more smooth transitions between different colors and also ensure brighter colors and sharper images. I really love the outcome. sAner Ps-I really need a new camera though! I need at least 10 times optical zoom (optical zoom is what you need, digital zoom is shite!) and this one only has 6 times optical zoom.

Pieter, just for your info, Tasmania is a state of Australia, but isn't connected to the mainland. pulse8 Tasmania is so great and the people so nice we actually have a term for other australians "mainlanders". ever heard the saying "only in america"? well we have a simmillar one, "only a mainlander could....." ;-) In regards to the 300D, it rocks, period! in some ways its better than the 10D because it supports EF and EF-S lenses. I've had no problems with it, other that the little rubber boot around the view finder comming off..... and now with the release of the 20D it's dropped in price. there are a few things missing from the 300D that are on the 10D, but I guess they had to make some people buy the 10D, also although it's plastic and not nickle alloy, it's very nicly constructed and does not feel flimsy. If you want an SLR that can take good pictures over a wide range of settings and speeds this is the camera. -B

I don't want to move the entire thread there. Since you're now discussing about cameras and the original subject of this thread was different I thought that it would be best if you created another thread. Karma won't be implemented until proboards gets upgraded to version 4 (in a few months I suppose). Most scripts I've found are banned from proboards 3 by the host of these servers. Michael

I'm sure Pieter won't mind me saying that his holiday plans weren't exactly on topic in the first place!! Why not move the whole thread? We'll all know where to go.
Andy.

I'll try to post whilst I'm away, but in case I don't, y'all know (approximately) where I am ;D Take care out there! pulse8
