I see that the board has reached the magic 500! Congrats Mike! I also think your board is a great succes. A valuable asset for every game and watch collector. I wonder how much members of those 500 are still in active duty? René

Thanks Rene! We've reached the magic 500! Let's hope we will soon see 1000 users in this forum!!! Most of them are inactive but still, this is a great achievement! 20 regular users login each day on average and we have 60-70 guests browsing the forum every day! That's not bad, what'd you say? Congrats Mike! I can still remember when you started this forum somewhere in the end of 2004 (well, you didn't even use proboards in the very early beginning) to fill the gap Spinal left when his forum fell. I think you created a true pillar (maybe even the only one) where the g&w community leans upon. You meant a lot for the g&w subculture as a whole and we all owe you a lot for that. Without this more than excellent forum (and let's not forget your faq) collecting wouldn't be half the fun it is today. I can honestly say I reached 54/60 games because of your forum. More than half of those 54 games I once had came from people I met through your forum. All but 2 of the +/- 20 games I still own today came from deals I made through your forum. I think that says enough about how important the role your forum played for my collection. Plus I met a great friend through your forum with whom I now have contact on an almost daily basis and have already met in real life on three separate occasions. Regards, Pieter a.ka. sAner

That's great Pieter, thank you very much! I think that there was a great need for such a forum when Spinal's one was closed. If I hadn't created the original forum which was a temporary solution, someone else would have created another one, I'm sure. The community needed a forum and that was evident. I'm just glad I could help!
I've met lots of people and traded with some within this forum and I can't possibly think what would have happened to my collection without it.. Most probably I would have abandoned the effort!

Hi Pablo, Spinal was a fantastic g&w collector with a small wallet but with a great heart for the games. He didn't buy boxed games and only bought the cheapest loose games he could find and played with them as often as he could. Spinal was a great inspirational source for all of us as he made us remember why we all started collecting in the first place. Spinal also started a forum which was really more than excellent. The 'old' guys like QJ (Matt), Mike P. and myself where already present in those early forum days. At some point Spinal couldn't pay his bills anymore and he lost i-net connection and the board went down. He regained his i-net connection a few times and the board was off and on which made it very unpractical for the members. You couldn't depend on the board anymore to actually be there when you tried to log on until it finally ceased to exist somewhere in the end of 2004. Then Mike P. jumped into the gap and created his forum which eventually got a lot bigger than Spinal's board had ever been. The g&w community owes Spinal and Mike P. a lot because it took and takes a lot of effort to create a forum and to run it. Mike may say -modest as he is- someone else may have done the job, but I am unsure whether that would have really been the case and even if so, I am unsure that board would have been this good and this stable. Regards, Pieter

Does anybody know if Spinal is still around? He joined this forum at some point but he never posted anything. Btw, Spinal played his games to death and he managed to reach a few great scores which are still present in the highscore tables!! Thanks Pablo, I hope to be around for a long time to come! But even if I somehow abandoned everything I could still leave someone behind to manage this forum! So there's nothing to be afraid of! Michael
