The past few months I've noticed something strange going on in Ebay. First of all, it seems that silver/gold games have disappeared almost entirely! Last year, you could find about 183276 different manhole and lion auctions, not to mention the various vermin and fire auctions. Ball was quite common too.
Do you think that this situation affects the game's rarity status (based on that a common game last year is hard to find this year) ? Do you think that this situation affects their price as well ?

I think at the moment games are not fetching as much money as they have done in the past but there seems to be more collectors out there that are keeping a low profile................

Michael, all,
All the silver and gold games which were sold last year obviously "disappeared" into various collections, such as yours. They're stuck now for the time being. Eventually a few of those items will return to the market again when that specific collector decides to quit collecting (like Ross did a few weeks ago). But I think there's no doubt about it that games which didn't appear in e-bay auctions for a while will gain in price. Just wait until the first boxed Ball is auctioned again ... the end-price will probably be higher than last year.
Anyway, that's what I think.

Isn't this the case with any item you sell?
If you have no competition then obviously the price will jump somewhat.

Hmm, last year I bought and sold around 7-8 lion games and almost same amount of manhole gold games. From what I can remember, most buyers were users with low feedback which haven't appeared again (bidding in similar items, I mean). This means that they probably aren't collectors. Users that don't collect such stuff usually play with them for a while and later resell them. It seems strange that everyone decided to keep them! Considering also that there are many many gold games still in existence it's rather odd that only a few appear for auction every now and then.. Michael
