Has anyone bought a PSP yet ? I bought one from a US seller (the system will be available here during the summer but I couldn't wait) and although I've yet to receive the game I've ordered from another seller, I'm amazed at its capabilities!
Here's a few:
- MP3 player. A 512MB memory stick duo will hold around 7 hours of high quality music! And the playback quality is very good too! - MP4 (mpeg-4) player. You'll need special programs for movie conversions (I've found a freeware one) but the 512MB stick can easily hold a 2-hour movie. - USB connection. You can see the memory stick as a drive in your PC. No drivers needed. - Photo archive capabilities. If your camera supports memory stick duo, then you'll be able to browse your photos in your PSP! - Movie quality from a UMD disk is comparable to DVD. The value pack I purchased contained the entire spiderman 2 movie in an UMD disk. - Amazing lcd screen - nothing like DS or whatever. Full and amazing colours. Games comparable to PS2 games (I've watched numerous demos).
The only drawback is indeed the battery. From what I've seen it can last up to 3-4 hours of continuous playback so purchasing an extra one is imperative.

Hello Michael, I've bought a Japanese system a couple of months ago. (hence why I don't have much money left to buy games for the G&W collection, lol ) It is indeed very nice! I've got 3 games now : Ridge Racers, Lumines and Minna No Golf. Ridge Racers is a great racer and it looks stunning for a portable game. Lumines is a fine puzzle game with cool music. Minna No Golf then is ok for in between, but not really my kind of game. I've had the opportunity to test the WiFi multiplayer since a friend of mine couldn't resist to buy a psp a couple of days after he heard I was getting 1 The multiplayer works great that way and it's 1 of the features that amazes people most when they see the system. A screen protector is a must in my eyes. I got 1 from Martin Fields overlay plus. The battery doesn't indeed last very long in certain conditions, but I use it at home most of the time so that's ok. I'm happy I didn't wait till the European launch, still no launch date What game did you get Michael?

I'm still waiting for Ridge Racers and I think Gran Turismo 4 will be next. I bought a 512MB duo pro stick and filled it with mp3 and a star trek movie just for when I'll be away from home.. The mp3 playback is awesome, much better than I've heard from other devices!
I think it will be released in Europe at the end of June. I'm glad I got it a lot sooner.
Since the PSP has wi-fi capabilities I think it should be easy to implement internet access or whatever!

The wifi-capability does create some opportunities. People are already browsing the internet with their psp (very basic stuff though I think). Once they start creating software for that purpose, it will turn into a PDA-like device. My main concern are the games though ;D Gran Turismo is on my wishlist also.

I think we will soon see hacked firmwares and support for various type of files and applications. Although I have to admit that I bought it for its gaming capabilities..

Funny!
I received Ridge Racer today and it's amazing! The next game will have to wait though because I'm sort on cash right now.
Btw, the latest edition of Nero, supports PSP-type of movies.

What's the game on the top right ? Which game did you like best ? (Except ridge racer ) Michael The game on the top right is "AI Mahjong". Another form of gambling like Poker. Very popular game with Asians My favourites are Ridge Racer, Hot Shot Golf, Dynasty Warrior (waiting for Action Replay) and World Tour Soccer. The rest are still sealed as I havent got time to play them

Ape escape, in my opinion, was THE most enjoyable games on the original playstation. I wonder how it will convert to the PSP? Some of the controls were quite complicated. For example, it was the first game, I think, to use the press-down action switch on the analogue sticks. (The switch I didn't even know was there until ape escape.) Andy.

249 euros ? Hmm.. that's pretty expensive as the price in the US right now is less than 200 euros and the package includes the spiderman 2 movie in a UMD disk (the quality is amazing btw). I got mine for less than 220 euros and as it seems around 6-7 months before its release here. I'm glad I did it.
