Please can you edit the link to make it shorter (so it doesn't mess up the look of the forum)?
ie: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120117046327
PS - Mike (site admin) - Isn't it possible to force the posts to be a certain width? I suppose this has already been investigated.....

I'm not sure but even if it can be done, I don't want to add another script in the forum. It might mess other things up..
What resolution do you use Jon ? I use 1024x768 and I don't have a problem with the above link.. Maybe it's the font you're using ?

Yep I'm on 1024 x 768.
I can live with a wonky forum if I have to.

One more problem with a script forcing a specific post length is that people using bigger or smaller resolutions will have problems with the forum (ie. the forum would take half or more than a full web page)..
But we're off topic!!

I know i'm off topic with this answer, and that mike won't put another script on the forum
but it's possible to have a script that only "shorten" the text shown of each url... lets say only show the 25 first chars of the url text and keeping (of course) the full url functionnality...

Mike, if you know the location of one, let me know as my free time is rather limited nowadays and can't search myself!

P.S. All the off-topic posts will be transfered to the board support forum.

Well no.. i do not know one at all... but i could try to make one if you want...
Just tell me how it works ... i mean ... does the script laucnh before saving the text??? i assume yes it does?
i you could catch the text before saving it with a script it could be easy to do ...
now if the javascript run only when the page is loaded (i mean like the snow script) then it will be hard to catch the url.
