I have a bad announcement to make.
PSP731 has been banned from this board for the following reasons:
1. Registered with multiple accounts 2. Used these accounts to smite and exalt other users repeatedly 3. Used these accounts to gain Karma points despite my warnings 4. Although I've banned one of his accounts he still kept using the other ones
Let this be a warning to anyone else who's in the mood of doing something similar. It may not seem so but I'm looking what happens in this board very closely and I'm prepared to take actions whenever necessary.

Michael, Are you 100% certain that it was PSP behind this? As it seems a bit silly to go to that much trouble just to use the karma system.
BTW: Is this ban permanant or temporary?

Seems a bit extreme, maybe a temporary ban would be ok, then they know you mean business.
I'd like to hear PSP's side of things though?

I've been watching him for some time now. Needless to say that he created more than 3 accounts here. He managed to conceal his true identity but that in itself wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't done anything else.
I wouldn't take this action unless I was absolutely sure. Both of you know that I wouldn't ban anyone if I didn't have a good reason to. This is only the second time since Nelson in a period of 2 years. If you think that banning a member because he shows no respect for this board and its rules is extreme, then so be it.
I will consider lifting the ban in the future but not now.
Btw, I've observed some users' obsession on giving negative karma or positive karma to specific users all the time. Please refrain yourselves from doing that. You know who you are.

Fair enough, you make the rules Michael.
Two points though...
Are you saying by concealing his identity, he is not Alvin but someone else? Or are you refering to the other accounts.
I agree that if you break the rules then this can happen, its not that I don't think that people should get away with breaking the rules, I just wanted to know if he had a chance to explain the reason he did it. Maybe it wouldn't be as black and white then?
On the subject of Karma, it would be good if we were able to tell who we gave good and bad Karma to.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I forgot who I have and have not given it out to, so unless you are a new member, I'm not going to give it out now, due to my forgetfulness! Which sort of defeats the object!
Is there no way you can provide a quarterly update on exhaltes or smites given. In private of course.
Just a thought!

Paul are you suggesting that keeping 4-5 different accounts in this board has a logical explanation ? I certainly don't have a need to listen to any excuses about that!
Now, on to the karma thing: It's not possible to send a list to each of you simply because of the way the board presents karma exchanges. It's just a long log and nothing else. I would have to do it manually and you can understand that I don't have the time for it. Now, if you don't remember if you have given positive or negative karma to someone, giving it again wouldn't hurt and this is NOT what I was writing above. I was talking about regular karma exchanges between certain users, people trying to smite other users repeatedly and others exalting each other. Just because I haven't taken any actions so far, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!
One last thing.. I don't like banning people a single bit. In fact I hate it! It spoils the enjoyment of visiting this board and exchanging ideas, the "merry" atmosphere of sharing a common passion. But at some point I have to draw a line. I hope you understand. I'm sure any moderator in my position would have done the same.

The Karma thing was probably not the best enhancment to the forums... ;D
Anything that allows users to + or - each other more than once is not a good idea in my opinion, or at least more that once per week or month.

Well, I barely use the karma system myself (I would be guessing I have used it 3 or 4 times, maximum). Maybe it would be better off if it wasn't used at all..
Michael, I understand that you do need to lay the rules at some point, but I disagree with the whole "Banning" thing. We are trying to encourage new collectors into the Game and Watch scene, and in my opinion this isn't helping. PSP was a regular contributor to the forums, and without him it will get even quieter around here.
Just my thoughts..

It doesn't matter Pat. I understand it but we have to make and follow some basic rules in here. Just because someone is a regular contributor or a well-known collector doesn't mean we should treat him any differently.

Hi all,
you do the right thing Michael. A board without rules and without a consequential administrator will be not serious and will go down.
when some members of this board try to manipulate something with different accounts or with lying stories about other members, then the member have to be banned!

Just a quick note to let you know that Alvin's ban has been lifted. As I wrote to him, game&watch collectors are few and they should all have the chance to discuss about their passion so I'm cutting him some slack.
Needless to say that I wouldn't hesitate in taking a similar action in the future if I observe someone is abusing the board again.
