Thats why to check the buy-now section now and then. Must feel like you won the lottery when you see the auction. And then its all about thinking and acting fast ;D You would not like to see that the auction has already ended 2 seconds ago when you push the button.

I agree Michael, I was surprised that they went so low. Although the flagman went for a good price, I was surprised that there were no late bids on it. I was sure that linass66 or Josef would have bid on it? As soon as I saw Chris bid on it and knew he wanted it, I backed off. Strange! Devster (CPMGITY)

@mike - I wasn't *that* surprised at the prices for akajiyajp2004's auctions, for several reasons: They were clearly not "old store stock" New / NIB (whatever you prefer). That chef box, in particular, was not "excitingly" new-looking. Lion looked a little better but still "used" looking - check out the serial number. Plus, for me and a lot of collectors, japanese instructions aren't so tempting. Main problem, though, was the lousy time that the auction ended. Frankly, I couldn't be arsed to get up 2 hours before I normally do, and guys in the USA would have had to stay up extra-late. ALSO unlike a lot of this chap's auctions, original batteries / poly bag were not included. All adds up to slightly less interesting purchases. 160 US Dollars is more than most Chef auctions get to though.... Other cheap items: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8106319758&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1 (ignore the foam - sorry Dogg) cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8106114800&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8105670194&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1 (Sorry Iain) cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8106015306&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8104219148&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8104093137&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1 (interesting, odd auction) Is that enough to be going on with? ;D Enough waffle from me!

Although the above items weren't mint or new, their condition was very good and they should have attracted more bids. When was the last time you saw a boxed chef in this condition go for lower than $160 ? It's been a while, hasn't it ? The last one I saw went for slightly lower and it was crap! And the boxed lion price was amazing. I think that the last time I saw an item like this going cheaper was 2 years ago! The "japanese instructions" and "end time" arguments aren't valid either because this has never bothered users placing bids in the past (most collectors use sniper tools anyway). Michael

Point(s) taken, Michael, but $160 is not a LOW price. Anyway - what's the problem? We should all be celebrating the fact that G&W prices are plummeting ;D I hope you don't think I'm being cheeky, but if you thought the prices were low, why didn't you place a last minute bid? For my part - I considered bidding and inflating the price further, but I (personally) have a "thing" about instructions, whereby japanese instructions hold almost no interest (except YM-901s where they are non-negotiable!! ;D).

We should all be celebrating the fact that G&W prices are plummeting That's what I wanted to write ... maybe we are witnessing a general price-drop? The above items deserved better prices, I agree with Michael on that. sAner

I agree with Jon on the time factor here. I don't use any 'sniping tool', where do you get one of those? I only got up early or in the middle of the night a few times for games that I just had to have. I think collectors from europe tend to pay the higher prices (no insult intended), so if they are in bed, then you don't get high prices. It's no surprise that people who only sell to US residents etc end up getting less for their games? I am sure you will agree that the best prices are normally acheived on a Sunday night between 7-11pm. Which is a good time for most of the world? Not done the math, so shoot me down in flames ;D CPMGITY
