Well spotted.... If you're lazy (like me) here's the links: Hobby model box (says unofficial on it and tell tale yellowed poly, cruddy batteries, poor instruction manual & baby stickers) with popeye: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270249494358Hobby model boxed Octopus: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270249494503It's a real shame this is happening, wonder if the seller even knows what he's selling. EDIT, I also find it curious that a seller with 2 feedback could have bought from Hobbymodel. He must have 2 ID's, one to buy the stuff under then one it sell it on in an attempt to cover his tracks.

This is why it's so great that hobbymodel decided to add the non-official words on the box! You can easily spot a re-produced box. Someone might want to get a box for his loose game. I suppose it's ok. But resellers can't scam collectors any more!!

In this auction the seller tells us, that he has another eBay ID: cocoballi (with just one 'c' after the first letter 'o'). And he also says, that except for the game the items are reproductions. In this auction the seller does not mention that he is selling fake items... Patrick

It's fake alright. Here's a translation: "Complete and in very good condition, very well taken care of, with its box, batteries, battery cover, serial number, instructions, etc. In Very good state and working perfectly.". There's no mention that it's fake.

@mike; -> Thanks for the translation! Are you that good in Spanish?? Thumbs up!! fountoukas; -> Great remarked! Thanks. It is now mentioned in the auction, that the box is reproduced! But not about the instr. battery etc. BTW; I love the way this thread works!

I just purchase cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=140254019885 I saw the auction, then just click buy it now real quick, afterward I saw that "Re-product" box thing. Now I have to talk to the seller about not buying the item I am already talking to him about another Boxed YM-901 I got from him, the box broke when it arrived. String of bad luck and carelessness is making eBay not so fun. This is bad if they are making Re-product box for YM-901. It's going to be hard to tell the different on that simple design.

Hi, i'm back from my holydays... As Mike says, you're not alone. We all have had bad experiences in ebay. I never bought a fake G&W by mistake, as i think it's easy to see if you're an experienced collector. Fake boxes have a different reflection. Even tough they were new the colour would notice the pass of years and storage. I only buy items with clear and large pictures, and when i have a slight doubt, i always ask. Other advice: always ask if the game(buttons-sound-lcd) is working 100% even if the game is new. And of course always read the aution details till the last line. Some sellers tell the bad things where it's difficult to see or notice, if you read fast.

Yeah, it's a pity they make copies of such boxes. Soon enough you won't be able to tell which is which and sellers won't mention it in the auctions! Not only I wouldn't pay him, I would report this to Ebay as well.
Btw, did you know that Ebay recently paid large sums of money to some major fashion companies because they allow auctions of copies of their items ? (bags, t-shirts, whatever). I'm sure Ebay will treat reports more seriously from now on!!

No, I don't think that ebay will take any more notice of these fake games, as long as Nintendo don't care about it. I expect that the fines paid by ebay were as a result of the fashion manufacturers taking action. As long as Nintendo are OK with this, then ebay will be.
Andy.
edit: I think that we should be very careful about posts like "it's easy to spot a fake because......." because the fakers read this forum and we are telling them how to improve their fakes.

Andy, I don't think Nintendo are ok with this, your words can be misinterpreted by some! It's just that they don't seem to bother doing anything about it for now, we can't rule out anything in the future! Reproducing boxes and paperwork is surely copyright infringement and they can put pressure on Ebay if they want. If this problem escalates, I'm sure they will show some interest, especially if people start reproducing games or whatever.
Due to the recent fines, I bet Ebay will devote some more people into this..
