indeed, not very rare loose, even boxed you will find them regularly, currently there are a lot of Pokka's around, sometimes I think there were more produce than 500 but I have no proof for that new theory... I agree. A lot of people insist that only 500 were made, but I'm not sure where that number came from.

All answers are in this marvelous book : Could you please post a link to the other page aswell (I woud love to read the ideas on the other modelnumbers)? Btw: Turtle Line? Interesting. I always thought the modelnumber came from TurtLe. Remember these model numbers were hastily attached by Japanese developers in the early 1980s, so the English they used is more in line with Japanese-style English, which can sometimes be different from Western concepts. Turtle Line makes sense as a "line of turtles" in the game. One amusing one is "Mario Wine" for Mario Bros. It's a classic example of early-1980s Japan, when alcohol was sold in vending machines and was often mentioned in children's stories, cartoons, etc. The brothers are obviously shipping bottles of wine, and even the box/game are a red wine color, but it had to be toned down to produce for an international audience, especially for the US market where the mention of alcohol in connection with children's products is generally unacceptable.

I only found this thread today but I find it highly interesting! Like Andy I never knew that story about Donkey Kong and Popeye, ash! Really good to know! Where did you read/hear about that? Am an avid DK collector so I am interested in anything about Donkey Kong (anyone want to sell me an Argentinian Donkey Kong? ). Did you find more examples, ash? The Octopus board game is a great find! Regards, Pieter Hi Pieter, Thanks for the feedback. I haven't found any more examples. I didn't really look since this thread didn't generate as much interest as I hoped. The DK-Popeye connection can be found here. web.archive.org/web/20141110045437/http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/13484/donkey-kong-was-originally-a-popeye-game/

Seems a lot like quessing to me too. But what does this book say about the YM in the three Mario games? The author of the book, Florent, has connections to old Nintendo employees and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't publish them without official confirmation. Aris posted them here as well (click link and scroll to the bottom of the page): mpanayiotakis.proboards.com/thread/2330?page=1My theory is that, the game was originally designed with a yellow diskun shell, hence the name Yellow Mario. For some reason, the Crystal was released a year before the YM901S, but the model number was already determined at that point so it didn't really matter. Back then it was not uncommon to hastily attach a model number before the official name was determined.

Almost a decade has passed, so I thought it would be nice to bring this thread up. Any new ideas on what YM stands for in the model numbers of the Mario games? Yellow Mario.

I wonder....what does this say about Eric's carded PS snoopy? How do we know that's not a fake? Hi Andy. How do we know anything's not a fake? Generally, my limited experience with mock ups is that they look much better in photos than in real life. When examining them first hand, you can usually tell within seconds that a box is not genuine. The feel and look of the carded PS Snoopy has led me to believe it is 100% genuine. Also, the person I purchased it from sold me another PS game that was not carded, and is obviously real.

Interesting. I seem to recall another one coming from Spain, and at least two white super colors coming from India.

Hi Andy, I am paying the designer not to sell the PS Egg design to anyone else to own this design just for display. This is the same as that collector in 2007 which did paintings of Pocketsize Lifeboat and did it as a pillow to sell to the collectors here. Most of the collectors here knows how much I pay for Pocketsize games. I just paid US$2.4k for a NOS Pocketsize Lifeboat. You're paying the designer not to sell the design to anyone else but you?
