I know, I know!! Some people detest the subject and think is all just rubbish. We talked/wrote about it a lot on Spinal's forum but since Monkeygreen brought up the White Spitball Sparky (which we had also already discussed on Spinal's forum) and because the backwards RC-04 is my fav. subject, I'll bring it up once again! Besides that; loads of newbees here who never talked about this subject before.
The back2front RC-04, what about it???
First my thoughts on the back2front Silver Fire (RC-04). I don’t know what to think of it. I have never seen a version with the building on the RIGHT and the ambulance on the LEFT but … I have read about this back2front RC-04 a couple of times now in various sources. The first time I read about it, I thought it was funny but kinda forgot about until I read about this version of Fire again on the internet (here: planetnintendo.com/nindb/gw_fire.shtml). Some of you (I thought LID was one them) can’t believe it’s true and I tend to think alike. Possibly it’s just a made up story which is leading it’s own life. How do you call that in English? An Urban Legend? Anyway, the answer you guys had on the question why it would NOT exist is not convincing me. You (LID wrote this if I remember correctly) said that it would have been a waste of money for Nintendo to change the format to left to right again after they had mistakenly made the version from right to left. “Why didn’t they stick to this ‘faulty’ right to left version instead?” is what you guys asked. Well, that’s not how the story goes. As I recall the story is like this: Nintendo obviously used a lot of manufacturers, they didn’t use one single plant in Japan. A lot of Fire’s had been released the right way as we know them, with the building on the left. After thousands and thousands of good copies had been made, one plant accidentally made one faulty version with the building on the right; let’s say only a few hundred. After they became aware of the mistake, they changed the process and started making good versions again just like all the other plants, like all the other good versions that had been released before. The mistake was reported to Nintendo and they thought about it and decided NOT to destroy the few 100 copies with the building on the right but instead they released them. Destroying the back2front RC-04’s would have been a waste of money. Anyway, that’s the story and I don’t know whether it’s true but I do think it’s a story which COULD be true, it’s sounds reasonable imho.
Now let me hear your thoughts on this subject!
All the best,
