Hey all,
It would be fun to organise a g&w-related competition again in the near future. I have no idea what sort of competition though. Does anyone has any ideas?
Regards, sAner

Like the fake g&w competition, you mean? How about designing a panorama series version of an existing (non-panorama series) game? Mario's Turtle Bridges Away or something like that.

How about devising the best G&W advertisment (poster format)?

I'm only interested in a comp if the rules and entry specifications are very strict....
Creating a poster to suit game & watch from 1984 is going to look nothing like what photoshop can do today, either is creating somthing that has elements or characters there were not even created until the 1990's.
If were going to create somthing like a G&W poster then it has to be judged on that alone, it has to suit the style, period, text, techniques etc...
for example, someone said my text on my last boxes were not all that good, but I studied heaps on nintendo posters and text from that era to get an understanding of what they would have wrote, infact most of the text was copied directly from other games / posters, was it crappy and stupid, Yep, but was it true to the game and the era, Yep.
It's factors like these we would need to be very clear on... maybe a list of say 10 points a voters should consider before voting.

I know this might sound odd, how about designing a new G&W LCD character? Or perhaps an existing LCD character in a different pose? For example, I love the particular Mario LCD when he's covered in cement (in MCF). Maybe design a mario LCD where he's getting water squirt in his face or something like that. Just an idea P.S. Thanks Lio and sAner for the welcome back, I hope to be hanging around the forum more regularly.

I think both ideas are actually very good!! Thanks QJ & willsh! I also think Brendan has a point; specific rules should be set to avoid certain troubles.
What do the others think?? Are there any people who would like to participate in a new competition and what compo should it be (flyer/advertisement or gw-character)?

g&w character sounds like the most interesting suggestion to me. And it wouldn't even require Photoshop...

I also favour the g&w-character. Would you join the compo Raffles?

I might try, but I've got an awful lot of work over the vac.

Hmmm ... most people are not too keen to enter a new compo I guess. Ah, well ...

im in, as long as when we vote we dont know who we are voting for, - we should find out afterwards who the entries belong to
as otherwise im sure tactical voting would happen this time around even if it didn't last time

I think your idea of anonymus entries is a great idea Richard. sAner OR... rather than anonymous we could do Eurovision style like last time BUT make the votes public so we can see who's voting for what just like the Eurovision i dont mind

We might need a slightly more clearly defined theme, though. At the moment it's still a bit too vague, perhaps...
