Hmmmm ... you could actually be right Brendan!
What do others think of Brendan's suggestion?

regarding the point made above about the colour of the battery cover.....
Is the colour of the battery cover taken from popeye?
If it isnt the same colour it must haev been taken from another game right?
As for Andy's new coloured games...i think that the new colours actually look not too bad.

First, let me mention the B/C. It's clearly not even from a G&W. It's the wrong size and it has those silver 'rivets' or whatever they are supposed to be. As for the scratching of the model number - I doubt it. You'd make a lot more mess than that. OK, the quality of the picture isn't great but I can't see any signs of tampering. Anyway, you couldn't make a 3 into a 7 by removing plastic. Either it's real or it's a photoshop job, and yes, Brendan, it could be done without changing all the buttons, etc. Just look at my examples. They were quick jobs.
Andy.

No, I believe the game is green, but I still think it's a PP-23 Case. Have a close look at the model no. PP-23 looks to have been turned into FR-27, theres a lot of scratching and and model info just does not look right.... the 7 is very flat and hardly there. LMAO - I told you this about two months ago Brendan and you wouldn't believe me!!! ;D I still believe, and always have believed, the case at the back was changed from PP-23 to FR-27. I'm unsure if anyone here remembers, but the person who owned that game was a big Australian reseller, so he probably just tweaked the case and created the publicity to attempt to make a small fourtune.

Andy, I am kind of hesistant to say that it is a true green fire simply because it took me like 10 secs to do the adjustment. Simply a colour adjustment. As for the battery cover, it could simply be a different one from rainshower... Wilson I think it is not a real battery cover but a cut piece of plastic ...

Nowadays, you can do anything with a computer, even create photos of game&watch items that never existed (let alone tampering with the colours of one). My guess is that Torsten hasn't seen the item up close because he obviously received the photo from someone via email (if I understand what he wrote in his site correctly).
I suppose unless someone has seen this item for real we should dismiss it as a hoax (for the time being).

I do believe I have an old PP case at home in my junk pile.... I will try to recreate a FR, just to prove it can be done....

Hi guys, just noticed this thread and I thought it would be a good idea to shed some light on this matter. A while ago someone e-mailed me and told me he had bought a fire from Thailand and was going to sell it on eBay when he realised the colour was different from the other fire games that were on sale. He asked me if there were 2 different colours and I told him not that I knew of. I asked him to send a picture of his game and those are the ones you see on my site. He deceided then to keep it and not sell it on eBay. It could be a forgery, but who knows...................

Hiya Torsten and thanks for joining in! It would be fantastic if the green fire was for real. And, like you wrote in the e-mail you just sent me ...> why would that person make the whole story up and go through the hassle of forging a green fire and then NOT sell it? Btw: Didn't you try to buy it from that guy? Regards, sAner

No, I didn't try to buy it and he didn't offer to sell it. If it was offered to me cheap, I would go for it, but since we don't know the history to it, I would rather not risk it.

You're right about that. And I really think the fact this guys didn't try to sell it, makes the forgery-explanation a lot less obvious. Regards, sAner

And I really think the fact this guys didn't try to sell it, makes the forgery-explanation a lot less obvious. He could very well have bought it from someone else who forged it though. Michael
