Not a very interesting thread but I'd like to see what people's opinions are. We have all heard of the theory that the model numbers were mixed up on the Mickey Mouse and Donkey Kong Circus panorama games. But I think there are 2 possibilities to the error. Should it have Been: MK-95 MicKey mouse DC-96 Donkey kong Circus or: MC-95 MiCkey mouse DK-96 Donkey Kong circus
MC and DK are already existing initials, which is why I thought it might be possible. Nintendo did re-use the same letters for some games (YM was used 3 times) but it look like they only did it when the games were exactly the same to play. Other games that had the same name but not the same initials include popeye, snoopy, DK Jr, etc.
What do you think? Andy

Yer, it's quite possible, it makes sense, There are no real solid rules as to what letters from the name should go in the model no.
But why not have MM-95, maybe it was only going to be called mickey? or maybe DC stands for "Disney Circus", and MK stands for somthing else like Monkey, or Monkey ?", and there is no error?
It's just one of those thing we will never know!
UPDATE: I have written a more indepth article on my site, outlining a new theory!

DC = Disney Circus and there's no error at all. MK could be Monkey Kong. Rumors say that the name "Donkey Kong" was created by Miyamoto as a combination of the word "Kong" from "King Kong" (as you know King Kong is a classic gigantic prehistoric gorilla) and "Donkey", a word which Miyamoto (with his loose understanding of the English language) believed was a general synonym for "stupid". HOWEVER there are also many people who claim the name "Donkey Kong" was the result of a typo on the original cabinet's art work for "Monkey Kong", but this has been denied by Miyamoto and others. If this is true after all, maybe they used Monkey Kong again for fun in the modelno of the pano DKC game. sAner

An interesting point, that maybe Donkey should have been Monkey. But if that were true, then why doesn't the game Plate and the Box say Monkey Kong Circus? Of course we'll never know the truth, but all these theories are interesting to read. Andy.
