Just a thought, Pieter, perhaps it would be helpful for people to report games they see elsewhere, like on ebay, but they don't actually own. This way, more info could be collated for the project, and it might be useful for tracking history of a game later when it does arrive in the collection of a forum member. Andy That's a very good idea Andy! I am thinking of making to databases. One of ym901s' people actually own with a photo of the back. And another "tracking-database" of games seen on e-bay. But I need some help of the YM901s-owners present on this forum (I am thinking of Jon, Todbrowning, Mike, Devster, etc.) ... Please make those pictures of the back of your game(s) people!Btw: [glow=red,2,300]The Serial Project is now online.[/glow] Check it out on: www.xs4all.nl/~saneYou will see a blue button on the mainframe which says: YM901s Project Hit it and there you are! sAner

Thanks buddy! Judging from Fredriks list, Aldrin Khaw from Australia once owned your YM-901s. Will this be one of the games for keeps?? Chat to you soon! Pieter

Josef, If you have the pics online somewhere, you can use the [ img ] tag (4th from left above the smileys) and insert the URL between the tags. There was a thread on here listing sites that you could upload images to (I'm pretty sure ). Failing that, you can email the image to a kind soul here (I can do it if nobody else can). Let me know... pulse8 Thanks pulse8! I've taken the lazy route and sent the pictures to Pieter..

Heya all, It's going great! I've added the two YM-901s' of Josef to the database, Danny's YM-901s and a new photo of QJ's game. A few more and the database is already larger than Fredriks' database ever was. sAner

Pieter - not that I won't send the info you need - can you explain a bit the purpose of all this ? I don't see any (at least not an obvious one)!

Pieter - not that I won't send the info you need - can you explain a bit the purpose of all this ? I don't see any (at least not an obvious one)! Michael Hey Mike! Well, for starters I do it for fun. I find it intrigueing to know who owns a YM-901s and in which country that specific game is. There are a limited amount of these games, most collectors own only 1 or max 2 and registering therefore isn't hard at all. The more ambitious plan I have with this project is to track down all remaining YM-901s'. I know that is impossible, but let's see how far we can come. If there's one game we can do it with, it's the YM-901s. After all "only" 11.790 were ever made ... And then there is the tracking of YM-901s'. Can we come to the conclusion that a YM-901s is a game that stays put? Or do they travel around all the time? Collectors come and go and I have the feeling that there's only a limited number (let's say 50) of YM-901s' that pop up time and again. I could be wrong and "fresh" YM-901s' come from people's attics all the time. Who shall say? The database will tell. A fact is that so far already one of the registered YM-901s' in Fredriks list (a game owned by Aldrin Khaw) was registered by another user (Rebel) on my site. That game travelled from Australia to The Netherlands and was owned by someone in Tasmania in the meantime. They do travel around. On top of all this I want to see which serials appear. If one YM-901s with a real low serial is registered and another one with a real high serial, we can say more definite things about the total amount of games that were issued. Or maybe YM-901s' with 'strange' serials pop up. Who knows we can say something about Andy's faking it theory after a lot of registrations. Anyways, basically it's just a lot of fun. sAner Sent you an email Pieter. Cheers Iain Thanks Iain! I appreciate it a lot! sAner

Just want to say that we know exactly how many games they were given away (remember the card with the ascending number on it ? You can still find it in my faq). And I think we've exhausted the faking theory. I think it's a lot easier to produce fake flagman games than fake ym901 ones.. Michael

I think sAner's project will eventually give us an insight as to roughly how many of these 11,790 are actually still around in existance, not many in my opinion. My guess is less than 5%.

hi all for research sake, here's my input. - i've had about 7 unit of 60th pass my hands over the past 4 years, both loose and complete with box, paperwork, etc - i've only got one complete set for myself left, sorry... - with the photos i've saved up, here are the serial of 4 of them, will try to find the other 3 if i can. * 21797652 * 21794461 * 21794958 * 21793493 as i'm still quite disorganised at the moment, i'll post a photo of my game, paperwork etc within the next two weeks. as to who i sold them to, one was QJ, another 2 to UK and 1 to US. i can't remember whether Aldrin's (Aust) was from me as well, as most of my old emails got purged previously so didn't keep enough records. and re how many 60th units were made, i do have one piece of evidence showing 8282 competitors entered the competition. again, i'll confirm everything once i'm a bit more organised, with photos and stocks, etc. cheers red-buggy ps: guys, what card with ascending number, can someone give me the link to the thread? can't seem to find it. thanks!

That's VERY interesting, Ruth, about the number of entrants. I don't suppose all of those people got the prize, so I imagine there were a lot LESS than 8200 in existence. Nintendo probably destroyed the rest.
Based on the serial numbers collected so far, there is a 9500 or so difference between the highest and the lowest serial numbers, so I don't suppose they gave them away in any particular order.
Andy.
P.S. Mike, why do you think it would be easier to fake a flagman?
