Heya guys and girls!
Quite a few people quit collecting or altered their perception of collecting in the past few months. I am very curious to the real reasons behind the choice to do that.
The first thing what comes to mind is that people want to spend the money they earn with the big sale for something else. People will think I sold the main part of my collection to buy my Canon 350D and additional lenses. That's not the case however. My main reasons were:
- I wanted to buy the three DK PS games and I know I would never be able to afford them if I continued with the 60/60-thing.
-Collecting 60/60 became such an obession for me that it influenced my life negatively. I began to lie about the money withdrawels and the negative saldo on our bankaccounts. I lied about actual prices and my GF suffered because of that. I also dreamt about g&w's and I was busy with it almost 24/7. I decided it wasn't normal anymore and pulled the plug. Quite drastic but it helped.
I will start a new interview section on my site in a few weeks time and I will interview the quitters and ask them for their genuine reasons. First victims Danny (Rebel) and Rensmits.
What do you think about the real reasons?
Regards, sAner

It would be interested to see their reactions Pieter. As I've always said, there's no reason to rush things. Browsing Ebay is a hard task and can occupy the better time of your day, every day! Self discipline is important here. No matter how much you want that elusive game, or how much you're eager to complete your 60/60 collection, it's always best to take your time with it. The process in acquiring the games is more rewarding than the goal. Did you miss a great game in Ebay ? Who cares ? There will be another for sure! After all, most of the time, finding a rare item before someone else does is pure luck.
So, everyone, take it easy, you'll spend less this way and you'll enjoy it a lot more!

You're so right, Michael. It took me over 2 years to almost finish the 60. I see a lot of people trying to get there in less then 6 months. Then it's a very very expensive hobby. But if you buy loose games first, then not so good boxed games and then very good boxed games, then it's much more fun. At the end you've still paid the same price overall, but it's in a longer period. So it won't hurt so much. But you'll have to be carefull not to get addicted with it. BTW: is there a G&W anonymous ;D In that case, I suggest that in the future everyone starts a message with:"Hello I am .......... and I'm a gameandwatch-olic".

I know how you feel sAner, now that I'm out of the 60/60 thing and just collecting the items I want from my youth, it's like a weight has been removed from me.
I still have all the MS's (non book) and wides, and there what I want really. I'm going to branch out into other areas as well, get a few TOMY games and others that I had when I was younger.
The 60/60 push was making me collect things I didn't even want. I much prefer my new MX5 ;-) with the preasure off I feel free to just build my collection as I want to.
I'm not sure but I also think theres a few others that dropped collecting huge 60/60 collections and just kept what they wanted, Pat?
