Heya guys and girls, In another thread Brendan started the discussion as to what title is the rarest boxed game nowadays. In the past a boxed FL-02 was on top, but now we agreed a boxed Egg is more rare. My question is; what about Pocketsize games compared to boxed standard games? I know a PS Fireattack or a PS Manhole are extremely rare, to name only two. But on which position in the table of rarity do you think a PS DKI a PS DKII, a PS DK jr., a PS Mario Bros., a PS Pinball, etc. stand? F.e.: is a pocketsize DK jr. more rare than let's say a boxed Vermin? And what about the list of common pocketsize games? Which 5 PS games are the most common? Is a PS DKII more common than a PS DK jr? I am looking forward to your ideas on these topics. Regards, sAner

In order from most common to less common, or should that be from very rare to very very rare? DK2 DK DKJR Pinball Mario Bros The last 2 are just a guess really, after the first 3, they all come into the 'very very rare' category. I would say even a PS DK2 is rarer than a boxed Flagman nowadays, but not as rare as a boxed egg. Just my opinion, of course. Andy. p.s. You can get 6 eggs in a box down my local supermarket!

Heya Andy, I agree completely with your list of common PS games. I also agree with you that f.e. a boxed Ball or a boxed Flagman is way easier to find than f.e. a PS DK jr. When I wanted to buy a PS DK jr. earlier this year (after my sale), I was litteraly struck and put off by the fact how extremely hard it is to find one which is decent and for sale. Money was not really an issue for me back then (I spent 315 euros on the PS DK jr. I eventually bought, but I was so desperate that I would have also paid 400 for it if that would have been necessary!), but still I could only find one and that was after a very, very hard search. I mailed dozens of people and pulled every string I could pull and only one PS DK jr. turned up. In the last months of 2004 no less than 3 boxed Flagmans and 2 boxed Balls were offered to me and I didn't even ask! Anyway, thanks for your ideas. What does the rest of you out there think? Regards, sAner Ps-If I hadn't quit collecting the regular 60/60, I would have definately bought those boxed Eggs you mentioned.

Personally, I think NOA Spitball Sparky would replace Pinball on that list.

I think that any pocketsize game (ok, not Squish  ) is rarer than any boxed silver game nowadays. Even the pocketsize versions of DK and DK2 which are considered to be the most common (sic) ps games appear only twice maybe three times a year not to mention that it's almost impossible to find them in very good condition. I think that boxed dk circus, boxed mickey pano, boxed egg are a lot rarer though.
I agree with Andy on the first three but in my opinion a ps pinball is rarer than a ps mario bros. It's been some time since we saw one.

Hello people! my 2p: I think most pocketsize games are rarer than any "standard" game&watch except DK, DK2 and DK jr. There a quite a few boxed eggs out there. I have seen a couple on e-bay, a few members here have one and there is even a guy with 3 boxed eggs...same counts for the DK Circus and Mickey Panos, there is one on e-bay right now, one was sold to chogokingdom a week ago. (I consider all boxes, regardless of the condition) here is what i get when I search for game&watch on e-bay, with the highest prices games first: This is a pretty unique situation, I know If I count all boxed eggs I know that exist and compare it to all pocketsize pinball games I know of fro instance, than pocketsize pinball must be rarer... I agree with you Mattijs. But I also think the DK's are pretty rare aswell. Like I explained in my earlier post, I had to go to a lot of troubles to find a decent PS DK jr. Only ONE was available for me ... In the same period last year I was offered numerous boxed silvers. I think only a boxed Egg and boxed panos of DKC and MM are rarer. Not even boxed crystals are rarer than a PS DK jr. imho. Regards, Pieter Ps-Will update my site soon Mattijs and then I will make a good advert for your paintings! PROMISE!

Mattjis, when we talk about rarity, we talk about "availability to buy at any one time" and not "total in everyone's possesion". I think that's obvious because we contantly talk about where one could find the items.

Brendan,
The problem with your list in this context is that you can't make a real rarity top5. As we all now, a lot of items are pulled off ebay for an outside deal before the auction has ended. If you want a proper rarity list, you'll have to spot all the ps games that are comming to ebay. Beside that, you can make the list you're already making to compare prices.
Cheers, René
PS: I know it's a lot more work, but you'll get a better view.

I still would say that all PS games get offers outside of ebay, I bet the DK that just went had offers, I would think that it's still fairly even overall, i.e. so far this year 3 DK's have sold on ebay (not including BIN).
One can probably say that maybe another 1/2? who knows went private, I'd say that ratio would be consistent overall and if in 2 years there has only been one fire attack for example then maybe only 1 other went private in that time from ebay.
Most collectors now are in the habit of tipping the seller off, i.e if I don't want it, then I will in some cases inform the seller not to pull it, as it worth heaps.. this practice is becoming more popular amoung collectors
