Hi Innis, All Barcoded games had the white letters on green background. I guess the question is, what year were the barcoded games produced? I mean barcodes were invented in 1975 and were about throughout the 80's. So a barcoded game could have been produced in say 1985? But having said that all barcoded games come with green backing and I don't remember seeing any with an earlier date than 1990. I think someone (QJ maybe) raised the point that early version games had batteries with production dates on them and the later (barcoded) had expiry dates on them. That would explain why the greens are all 1990 - 1992. The barcoded games could have been produced from 1988 maybe? My 2p's anyway and I'm sure any errors in my post will be rightly pointed out ;D Paul

The years listed in my FAQ are the years in the dates you can find on the battery packets and as far as I know this is correct. I don't know what you mean when you say that it contradicts with that thread, could you please elaborate a bit ?

Sure thing Mike, OK the trivia question that the auction I referred to is to do with the batteries. It's this auction -- cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2541&item=8117330052&rd=1In that thread I asked (answering your trivia question) if the batteries were from the wrong year, and you said "no, the problem lies elsewhere"... OK so, if the green batteries in that auction were the correct ones, it would mean that the DK-52 in that auction was produced somewhere in the late 80's, to match the dates on the batteries that are in your FAQ. Hope you can understand my explanation a little better If not, don't worry, I'll work it out in the end... pulse8

Hi pulse8,
Mike is correct in that the green packets with white text belong to the mentioned auction in the trivia link since the box has a barcode and the high 46x serial number also confirms this is a re-release. I'll hold my hands up and say I really don't know eactly when this re-release was issued, but Mike's years between 1990-1992 is probably about right.
Previous versions of LR44 games would have white packets with green text (serials around the 32-38x mark), and even earlier or Japanesse verions (or combination of both?) had white packets with red text. It is these early verions that I believe had manufacture dates and not "use by" dates stamped on the battery packets.

Thanks, Matt, this helps a lot. I didn't actually realise that Nintendo was still making re-releases up until this time. Good to know, though. Cheers. pulse8

Matt's reply pretty much sums it up.
