You were probably in the collections forum and you thought otherwise. Anyway, it was moved here where it belongs.

Wilson, Torsten's collection is THE BOMB! If Torsten doesn't have it, Nintendo probably didn't make it. --->You can read a very nice interview with Torsten here: www.xs4all.nl/~sane/html/torsten.htmRegards, sAner

I wonder what his collection is worth....more than an arm and a leg.
Also would like to know how long that took to collect.

Since we are talking on variations, I have this to share.
No one is an expert in variations as different people value different variations. Mike himself made the distinction is his variation page. he values Pocketsize, carded and blisterpack and he did say that he did not consider Elecktronika as game & watch nor did he necessarily subscibe to the thought that Videopoche and Tricotronics were valuable as they are rarer. (I'm not too sure about his view on Mega Corps).
That's not wrong. But that's him.
I do have carded and blisterpacks but I always tried to trade them or sell them because they are so boring and you can't play with them as the moment you opened the packs, the value drops like nobody's business. Simply put, I don't want to keep them because I don't like them and I won't accept trades for any of my rare games with these items.
I collect Elektronika and Pocketsize because of their box art and I love the designs of instruction booklets that come with Elektronika. And like Mega Corp, Elektronika came about in places where Nintendo did not have offices. I collect Tricotronic and Videopoche because I like the typography on the box front and the back of the boxes are quite interesting. I'll upload the back of a Trico parachute for you all to see in my collection thread.
And one more thing. Value is very subjective.
If you price your games at a high price, people will sell games to you at a high price. It's a vicious cycle. Collectors may set their prices based on the prices of the games they bought. For example, a collector bought his variations at a high price and he may sell his games for even more.
He may even insist to other collectors that these games are worth the prices he sell, so that he can maintain the high value of his collection. If other people buy at a low price for the same variations, he will never recoup his investment and he'll end up feeling like a fool. Unfortunately people will buy same variations at a much lower price and choose not to subscribe to his self-serving valuation.
And to be frank, the best collectors don't advertise themselves. Once you do and people think that you are very willing to spend at all costs to buy games to maintain your reputation, people will sell games to you at outrageous prices and you will be forced to sell at outrageous prices. There's benefits in being anonymous or certain senior collectors won't bother maintaining 3-5 aliases on Ebay.
I've met some of the best collectors in the world and their collections span 2-3 cupboards but I won't tell you who they are except that no senior collector will catch up with them because they started collecting these games since the 80s when they appeared.
Some even have a picture of them shaking hands with Gunpei, holding an autographed boxed game & watch as proof that their game & watch is authentic.
My 5 cents to all the collectors here.

What's your point?

Is this your way of being "anonymous" Nelson? For my two cents worth, I would prefer it if MORE collectors got involved in the forum, but NOT because they feel forced to.

Hi all, I just want to provoke some thinking and interest in the pricing of variations. And Jon, I was not referring to anyone in particular. I was speaking from my own experience, some senior collectors have tried to impose on me how much to pay for certain variations. And on the prices they offer for my items which are way below those that they sell. But I do think the last paragraph was unnecessary and I'll erase them. I apologise if I have offended anyone with my last paragraph. It has certainly become my pet peeve
