Hi everyone,
I see a lot of auctions in my area for Game & Watch games, each asking between 40 to 60 Euros for a loose Game & Watch with broken or replaced parts. Some have a missing or replaced battery lid, a dual screen with a broken closing lid and many have faded screens.
I found one seller who buys these games and restores them, replacing polarizers and such. He also asks around 60 Euros for each restored game.
Now I have no idea what the value of these games should be. All I have is the unofficial game & watch collector's guide book and the gameandwatch.ch price list, and according to those lists these games are overpriced in their condition. And tampering with a Game & Watch would lower its value even more according to the book. That's not what I see happening in the auctions for loose G&W games.
So are these the expected prices for Game & Watch today? Or should I be patient and contact many people before getting the right price?

Hello tuyga.
To answer your question all game and watch consoles have different values based on how "rare" the game is and the condition it is in so 60 euros would be great for say mario the juggler but not so good for a standard mario bros multiscreen.
Replacing polorizers on a console is a very easy fix if you know what you are doing and can of course add more value to a console than a console with faded visuals. As for broken clasps and missing original battery covers, even serial number strips, these all lower an items value. Broken clasp is the worst for me personally. Sometimes sellers have the original battery covers to sell so you can get them later or a clear replacement if your not fussy. But a broken clasp is a big problem, not so easy to fix. And as i say any consoles with these "defects" should always be a lower price than one with all the original parts on it.

Prices vary a lot on auctions and people can start an auction at any price they want, over half the games on ebay are priced at way above what they go for in a regular auction.
I would buy ones with serial numbers, undamaged clasps, and no major damage. It's advisable to buy only when an original battery cover is available but as mentioned you _can_ buy these separately in theory.
Just be patient and eventually, especially buying unboxed, you will get a good price on one in nice condition.
