I've got a question regarding weak/faded picture quality on my Super Color Spitball Sparky. Its not unplayable by any means, but I have to hold it at an angle to be able to see everything. A quick search suggests this is down to the polorizer needing replacing? I'm currently looking for a replacement one, but the ones I can find are for Multi screen, wide screen and gold series handhelds. I'm not to informed when it comes to this, but would the polorizer for a Super Color game be larger due to the larger screen?

Yes, the same material as all the others for the polariser but larger, as you say. I've not seen anyone selling ones for Super Color but might be worth contacting the various sellers on eBay and seeing if any of them can cut you one the right size. cNp

Sorry to bump this thread, its been a while since I had a chance to attempt to fix my Spitball Sparky and I've discovered a rather strange issue with the screen and I was wondering if anyone had an idea on how to fix it.
I replaced the polariser for Spitball Sparky and for the most part, the picture is perfect. However there is one area of the screen which is still almost invisible:
There are 6 "columns" on Spitball Sparky - your player can move between each of these 6 columns to catch and shoot the ball to destroy the bricks.
Now the weird thing is - one of these 6 columns is basically completely blank. I can see my character, ball and blocks perfectly in 5 or the 6 columns perfectly, but when I move my character into this one problem column, or if the ball crosses over into this column they go invisible. I've played around with the game while disassembled and moved the polariser over the entire screen and one of the columns just fails to show any graphics. Its not one of the columns on the end either, its one of the middle two columns. I've given everything a clean also in case its a bad contact and that hasn't helped.
I'm honestly stumped, as I can't think of any reason why an entire column is basically invisible. Its worth noting that you can technically see the graphics for this column, but only if you hold the handheld at a really odd angle. As mentioned above I initially thought this was a polariser issue but I've replaced that and its fixed 90% of the screen, so I'm baffled as to why I've got this strange issue with one part of the screen.
Any help/advise is greatly appreciated, as I'd love to get this handheld working 100% for my collection.

I snapped a couple of pictures to try and show the behaviour of this handheld: The second picture shows it better, notice the blank column in the center which should have a column of graphics just like the other columns.

This might be a contacts issue unrelated to the polarizer. Try applying pressure (carefully) to various parts of the game to see if the LCD gets brighter in that section.

Cool, thanks for the tip I'll give that a try and report back.

Cool, thanks for the tip I'll give that a try and report back. Also, you might want to try holding another polarizer up to the screen, and if those blank segments show up nice and dark, you'll know it's a polarizer issue. If they are still not appearing, then it's most likely a contacts issue unrelated to the polarizer you inserted.

Thanks for the tips. I tried another polariser and the same spots were blank so it's nota. Polariser issue. I tried cleaning the contacts and I now have picture on the entire screen! I'm still testing it but so far the picture on the previously invisible part is now visible and I can play the game far better than before! Thanks for all the tips, I'm really glad to have this in working order
