I purchased this over the weekend and am hoping to get some assistance in assessing the value of it. I understand it is rare. I've been told it is in the $1,500 to $2,500 range, but there a no real comparables. Any light you can shed on the item and the value will be greatly appreciated. imgur.com/a/S7bYV

Wow, incredible fnd! yet you seem more to know than you are actually telling, using collector words like pocketsize and NOA? When I bought it I posted it on another site and someone contacted me and let me know that it was rare, and used all those terms. He then directed me to this site to try to get more info. So I can see where you might think that, but I was only copying him.

Meems, As you've probably gathered by now, this is an incredibly rare item. Only one other is known to exist (to this forum, anyway), and that was snapped up on ebay for a pittance, and then has changed hands a couple of times since. I don't know how many people know the price the game was sold for subsequently, but I would be very surprised if it was less than $2500. Having said that, there are very few collectors with the means and the guts to spend that kind of money on a game, so you'll have to spread the word to maximise the price you achieve. Congratulations for finding it. Would you care to share the story of how you found it? We'll all be very interesed, and jealous Andy

It had been listed for a couple of days before I saw it. I contacted the seller and arranged to meet the next day. I told him I would drive to a location convenient to him, if he would come down on the price a little bit, which he agreed to. I had my 7 year old son, who loves Nintendo stuff, with me (he first saw a G&W at a local retro game shop and has always wanted one). The seller arrived, he gave me a quick overview of the game (I had never seen a vs system before), and we made the exchange. I then told my kid to unbuckle himself and climb in front for a couple quick games before we left. He beat me both times.

Meems, Well, as the original, and former, only person to find an NOA DK3 boxed game on any auction site, allow me to congratulate you and welcome you to a very exclusive club! This game is indeed extremely rare, and at the time (which I believe was December of 2010) I referred to this find as "The Discovery of the Decade". LOL! Offers started coming in to me from the heavy-hitting collectors, and even though the game cost $129.99 USD, the offers coming in started at more than 10 times that! I was hellbent on keeping this gem, after all, it was the only one in existence at the time, so, I refused every offer that came in. It wasn't until offers started reaching the 3K mark, that I began to waver a bit. In the end, I did sell it to a collector for a handsome price, and while I no longer am a collector of these fantastic handheld games, I do know that this original NOA DK3 game has changed hands 3 times since it left mine. Now, having said all that, you need to know a few things about rarity and value. First off, and I've been saying this for years, a game is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Sure, someone may have paid 6K for a C10 PS DK 2nd edition game once upon a time, but, does that mean you'd get the same amount of money if you had one in your hands right now? Nope! Not at all!! You could get more, or the same, but, most likely, you'd get less. Unless of course, the person that paid 6K for it, wants to ensure he or she maintains the monopoly on that game, and does not want to see it sell for less than the 6K that they paid for it. Past selling prices does not always equal future selling prices. The other thing you have to consider is the fact that by finding this game, it is now no longer as rare as it was when I found it. As Pieter has accurately mentioned, with two now known to exist, the value from a logical standpoint, will (should) definitely be less. Not sure I agree with an inverse relationship of "double the amount known to exist = half the price" but, as I mentioned earlier, it's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, so, when you start getting your offers, which I'm sure you already have (and I can tell you who would have given you the highest offers as well - LOL!) keep in mind what Andy told you: There's only a few collectors that would be willing to pay top dollar for it. I don't visit this forum anywhere near the frequency I used to, when I was an avid collector, but, nonetheless, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Congrats again! Aris PS By revealing your NOA DK3 source, you'll now have all the collectors here searching Craigslist. Or at least, all the ones who weren't already doing so prior to your revelation. LOL! PPS Nice avatar!
