Oct 31, 03 - 6:49 AM The most rare G&W/variation that you guys got?
Hey All,
I think the RAREST item that I've got in my collection is the Mego Flagman as seen in the following link:
users2.ev1.net/~rik1138/Mego/FlagMan.htm
It's a picture from a website that I came across. I think I've only seen a Mego Flagman like twice on EBAY (incl. the one in my collection ) since I started collecting. The other SOMEWHAT rare items that I've got would be Pocketsize versions of Popeye, Donkey Kong I/II, Mario Bros., Pinball, and Donkey Kong Jr. What are your thoughts on this?

HI
The most rarest Game & Watch game that I have ever had was a boxed Punchout! which I later sold. Now the rarest games I have is a NEW and used pocketsize Donkey Kong, and a boxed silver fire. My collection is not too impressive, but its always growing!

Hi Kevin,
I also rank pocketsize g&w's as being the most rare, next to of course mib panos of Donkey Kong Circus, a boxed Flagman, a boxed Ball, a boxed Mario the juggler (I know you have 4!!) and boxed Egg.
Unfortunately I have none of these ...
I am the most satisfied with my loose Rainshower, loose silver Fire, loose Toss Up, loose Donkey Kong jr. Tabletop, loose Popeye pano and boxed Crab Grab.
What would you guys consider the most rare items per category? My list would be like this:
silver screen: Flagman
gold screen: Headache CGL
widescreen: Egg
multiscreen: Rainshower
tabletop: Popeye
pano: Donkey Kong circus
new widescreen: Mario the Juggler
super color: Crab Grab
Micro vs system: Punch-out
crystal screen: Climber

Hi All,
Matt-"boxed Punchout! which I later sold", do you mean the Red box common one or NOA with picture?
Saner-I also rank pocketsize g&w's as being the most rare, next to of course mib panos of Donkey Kong Circus, a boxed Flagman, a boxed Ball, a boxed Mario the juggler (I know you have 4!!) and boxed Egg.
silver screen: Flagman - have a BOXED/NMIB one
gold screen: Headache CGL
widescreen: Egg (game only!)
multiscreen: Rainshower - (got a boxed one from Taki!)
tabletop: Popeye - (got 2 boxed ones!)
pano: Donkey Kong circus (game only!)
I ONLY have games of Mario's Bombs Away, Mickey Mouse panorama (we've forgot about this one-even a LOOSE is pretty rare! (lucky Michael!)), Donkey Kong Circus, (2) Crystal Screen Climber and (1) manual, Egg, Lion, and Ball (have a toss-up)! I don't have boxed Mario's Bombs Away simply because I haven't bidded much on it and it's quite commmon on EBAY. I have 4 MTJ but 2 BOXED and 2 LOOSE (1 W/O B/C!) I'm still looking for more and especially one in blister pack!

Gameandwatchcollector,
The boxed punchout! was new in its original picture box. I believe it was the US version, I think. Anyway I still have a picture on my store page at the top if you want to see it. Go to www.geocities.com/southbomb
Copy and paste the link(I forgot michael's code, and I don't feel like looking it up).
P.S. Do you guys consider Lifeboat as a rare mulitscreen?

Hey Matt,
WOW....how much did you sell that Punchout! for/to whom if you don't mind me asking? Did you get that from EBAY or ? I don't consider Lifeboat as being too RARE as I have 2 NIB with slightly different boxes Rainshower/Lifeboat Pocketsize versions are much more rare!

HI
The game Punchout is now in a famous collection in Sweden. You probally know who I am talking about. At the time I did not know the rarity of the game, but it was sold for a reasonable price. If you want more information about that game you can contact fredrick. If anyone is interested though, I did make a copy of the Punchout! instruction booklet. If I get any more rare games that I am selling I will leave a message in this forum. Just to note I will be selling a boxed Donkey Kong Jr. coleco soon, and a boxed silver fire! I am creating a new website, so when it is finished I will let you guys know.
*The game was not purchased on E-bay.
P.S. Which PocketSize game do you think is the most common?

Hey Matt,
Oh was it sold for more than $1,000? I've only seen that on EBAY once and know Taki was outbidded by another individual (forgot the name) for around $1,000. I think the most common Pocketsize (at least on EBAY) would probably be Donkey Kong!
P.S. The most expensive Pocketsize that I've seen would have to be Rainshower (a NMIB) one in which I bidded $850.01 but Taki won it @ $860.01..

Sounds like your big hardcore collector. Actually the box's flap was totally missing on the side, so I sold the item for a low price. Let's just say if you want great deals then you should shop at my website!

Hey all,
Southbomb: why do you sell all these games? Don't you aim to complete your collection or a you a re-seller?
I also consider Life Boat as pretty common. In fact; I judge Rainshower as the only somewhat rare multiscreen, especially a boxed version.

HI
As you probably know some of these Game & Watch games are very expensive. If I was to collect every game that I purchase, I would be paying a lot of money. I rather have more of a quantity of games rather than a few rare ones. As there are 60 different Game & Watch games, owning a boxed complete set can be very expensive. Just like another collector said "I want to live in a house" was talking about the tremendous value these games add up to. Plus I am not that wealthy to accumulate all of these games right now. Even though I sell off my rare games, I am continuing to buy the less expensive version games. Basically to answer your question: Yes I am collecting Game & Watch games, but only the common ones for now. I guess once I complete my common collection, I will start to buy and keep the more rarer ones.
If I wanted a complete collection as you know its not hard to do if you have a large sum of money. The time to do this might only take you a few months correct? Then once you have the complete collection, where has all the fun of collecting gone? I guess in a way I am extending the pleasure of collecting. You see most collector's are satisfied once completing there collection, and what usually happens is that person will later sell there collection because the fun of collecting is gone.
*If you were to sell your entire collection, and later start collecting again, wouldn't it be more fun? One thing you would probably miss would be the pleasure of opening a package that you got in the mail. I mean if you already have the game, then its just another double.
Thanks for reading my book lengthy speech!

I agree with you Matt. Someone might find this strange considering that it took me less than a year to collect the games! But I was so eager to get them all in my hands that I couldn't resist. If you have the amount of money needed, it's very easy to get carried away. I agree that it's best to wait but during this year I saw so many nice items for auction in Ebay that it was nearly impossible to let them go!

Hi
I have been collecting since 1997 and have 57/60, this is not through not having the money to get all the games but just taking my time and collecting other stuff,
The fun in collecting is still as high as it was 6 years ago to me, maybe because i have taken my time and not tried to get everything at once.

Hi Matt
I started collecting late 96 early 97 and did not get Internet access until 99 so all my collecting was done at car boot sales, you only get a limited amount of games there and most are loose.
If i had have got all my games around 99 when i got Internet access im sure some of the fun would have gone by now..........So i think the answer is no i don't regret not buying available items at the time.
