Hey all, I was thinking about that Palmtex brochure that Aris has, and thought it might shed some light on the existence of Turtle Bridge or Chef, etc. in North America, or ultimately if they were released in Pocketsize format. So I decided to dig a little deeper and I found this snippet in an old issue of Billboard dated July 24, 1982: Apparently the president of Palmtex was Esmail Amid-Hozour at the time, and it seems he is now CEO of Etón Corporation. The article makes it seem as though Palmtex was going to act as distributor of G&W games in North America, so if that actually happened, wouldn't there be some indication of Palmtex such as a logo on the boxes or games? My theory is that the deal never went through, and Nintendo decided to go with Pocketsize through NOA instead. If we could get in touch with Esmail Amid-Hozour, send him a pic of the pamphlet and a question concerning what happened, maybe he could shed some light on the subject. I didn't dig deep enough to find his email address. I'm thinking one solid email would have a better chance instead of many people bombarding him with emails, so I ask that no one contacts him before discussing it here. Any thoughts? - Ash

Just thought I'd give this a thread a bump and ask if anyone could find the email address of "Esmail Amid-Hozour CEO of Etón Corporation" on the net. I imagine there are people on here with better search skills than I, and I don't want to pay any money to find the address. If someone can find it and post it here, I'll send him an email asking about what happened with Palmtex and G&W.

Otherwise I don't think we have a shot. UPDATE: Oops, forgot to read the last line of your post. ;D I'm kind of reluctant to register with that site at this point.

I was doing a google search for Palmtex and came up with something: What about this guy? Barry BeckerAccording to his Linkedin status, he worked at Palmtex in 1982-3. His profile even mentions Nintendo games. If he has a very good memory, it might be worth asking him. Andy

As Kramer would say, "Good karma for you!" ;D This "Barry Becker" one is particularly interesting because he claims to have "imported and distributed" Nintendo handhelds through Palmtex. It's funny though because he mentions they distributed "Super Mario" in 1982, which didn't exist at that time, so maybe his memory is getting fuzzy. I'll get in touch with him when I get a chance. Was his email addy listed there? UPDATE: I just sent him an email, so we'll see what happens. I also attached photos of Aris's Palmtex pamphlet to refresh his memory (hope you don't mind Aris ;D). - Ash

Barry runs his own company now, Becker Marketing Associates So if you don't get a reply, try the contact link there. I hope he replies, but I am not hopeful for any useful information. After all, we're already clutching at straws with the Palmtex lead. What we really want is someone who worked at NOA, not Palmtex Andy

After all, we're already clutching at straws with the Palmtex lead. What we really want is someone who worked at NOA, not Palmtex Andy True, it's really a shot in the dark, but it's kind of fun to find out about a chapter of G&W history we never knew about. Anyway, he replied immediately, but didn't seem very interested in sharing much. Here's all I got: "We marketed several of the Nintendo game and watch products. We had a large booth at the CES in Jan, 1983. That's the best I remember." Here's the 1983 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) he speaks of. It was held in Las Vegas: Unfortunately, I didn't spot any G&W in this Youtube video. Ash
