Hi.. I was in discussion with Aris about the motherboard serial number and discovered that this topic has not been covered.. Can all of us throw some light on this.. As to its resemblance to the game itself.. Or any theories which we can discover to know more about the legend of Game & Watch..
These serial numbers are stamped on the motherboard on the brown part with black color and contains numbers and words..
Thanks

You-re not talking about the model number, are you? I know that they have the model printed on them, and that there are some anomalies, such as Egg (EG-26) having MC-25 on it.

Hi Michael..
I was just wondering what does the serial number on the brown mother board inside the game depict.. have anyone of us worked on them? Does that lead us to any theories or is it just we should not be bothered about?
As this forum has worked alot on Game & Watch i was curious to know a little about the serials on the brown motherboard..
Thanks..

Aatifk, IMO, I don't think this sort of "project" is feasible. I've never even noticed such a serial number, but, even then, in order to collect such data, it would require the taking apart of every game you wanted to obtain this MBSN (motherboard serial number) from. I don't know about most collectors here, but, unless I really have to, I prefer not to take apart any games. It's one thing to ask someone what the serial number is on the back of their game, (I mean, all the have to do, is turn it around and provide the number) but, to ask them what the MBSN is, would be too labour-intensive for most people. Heck, I've been asking members here for months to provide me with the serials and some still haven't gotten around to it! Could you imagine asking them to take apart 30, 40, 50 or even 60+ games??? LOL! So, that's my two cents on this topic. Plus, I've got my hands full with the regular serial number database, so, I'd be of no use to you with this proposed idea. AC

It's kind of an interesting idea, but not worth the effort of opening up games IMHO. These games are very old and I don't recommend taking them apart unless you need to fix something, or if it's just junk.

Aris i need to know where can i upload the serial number of my games for your database? Thank you.. No problemo. It is often queries such as yours, that ends up leading to new discoveries. The serial number updating is currently being done in a controlled manner, with only one person (me ;D) updating the serials to the actual database. Any serials you, or anyone else for that matter, would like to have added to the database, can be done in one of three ways: 1 - Post them here 2 - PM them to me 3 - Send them directly to me at arisc@rogers.com I will then add them to the database. Information such as "version type" (e.g. Ji21, Pocketsize, tric-O-tronic, CGL, Japanese, etc...) "Blue Mickey boxes" (where the back of the box depicts a Blue Mickey game instead of the standard red Mickey) "Stamped Mego Logo" (some Toss-up games have the Mego logo on the game, others don't), "Matching Serials" (Box serial matches game serial), etc... is also helpful information to know. Just need to know.. Thanks.. Hi Aatifk, That is definitely different! I don't know what other collectors's experiences has been with this sort of topic, but, all the Fire boxes I've seen have had "red Octopus" games on the back of their box. Blue Mickey games we're aware of. I remember Ash bringing it to our attention several months ago, so, I started identifying "blue Mickey" boxed games serial numbers on the Serial Number Database Spreadsheet. There's definitely a pattern based on how the serials all seem to be bunched together. Could this mean that Nintendo toyed (no pun intended ) with the idea of releasing Mickey Mouse and/or Octopus, in blue??? There's a Matching Serials Fire on ebay right now, (albeit, at a ridiculously high price ) and it has a "red Octopus" on the back, which would suggest that this "blue Octopus" isn't blue due to the Matching Serials aspect. Yes, box serials that start with a "3" should be a Matching Serials game, unless of course, the contents have been swapped. Can I get the box and game serials from you Aatifk? AC

Hi Aatifk,
Can we see a pic of the blue Octopus on the box?
I think some Argentinian games were released in blue. Was Octopus one of them, anyone?

Ash, you are correct! To my knowledge, both Turtle Bridge and Octopus were released in blue within Argentina. Hmmm.. I wonder if Mickey Mouse was as well.... Does anyone know how many of the G&W line were released in Argentina? And how many were released in a different (than the standard) colour? AC

Hi Ash and Aris.. I will email you the pic's aris.. Also will provide you with the serials by this evening as i have already reached office and the game's at home.. Will take pictures and send it to you..
Also Aris, would i suggest that all junk and tatty games which are taken apart, should atleast I provide you with the MBSN along with the game serial number? In the long run probably we might have something discovered as regards to thier corelation, manufacturer, date of manufacture, etc.. Just curious about this..
Thank you again..

That would be very much appreciated. Regarding the MBSN, personally, I've got my hands full with the SNDB as it is, and while your suggestion of collecting MBSN may lead to something, I really don't think we'll be able to get enough data to put together any sort of corelation numbers from "tatty/junk" games. Sorry Aatifk. I don't mean to shoot down your theory/suggestion, but, I really don't think you'll get much, if any, interest/cooperation from other collectors here. AC
