I have scrolled through the topics and havent found an answer yet but could someone please explain something to me about the first Game & Watch BALL
I have heard some people mention a BALL game that doesnt feature a Model number, and the serial of the game is between 1 and 10,000.
Are the early editions more expensive than the regular ones? Does anyone know where I can buy one from?

Are the early editions more expensive than the regular ones? Does anyone know where I can buy one from? Hi Graham, Welcome to the forum! Yes, this topic is an interesting one, and was, to my knowledge, only recently discovered when we started talking about low serial numbers. I believe Andy noticed it first and pointed out the fact that it looked like a prototype or something. Based on the Serial Number Database, it would appear that this theory, of the first 10,000 Ball games issued not having the model number stamped on them, is well supported. There are only a handful of Ball games on the database that are in that 00000001 to 00010000 range, and each one of them, does not have the AC01 stamp on it. IMO, condition of game, box, etc.. will almost always supercede production timeline when it comes to the value of a game. However, having said that, Ball is probably an exception. Especially because of the "prototypeness" of the game. I think there's something special about having one of the earliest Ball games produced! I'm sure if we were to poll the collectors here, I'd be surprised if more than 2 or 3 collectors had Ball serials within the first 10,000 produced. Shane has a really early Ball game. I'm not 100% certain, but, I'm pretty sure it's that 00000130 one that Patrick provided pics of. When I see that, I think, wow, he has the 130th game that rolled off the assembly line way back in 1980!!! Think about that! Of all the millions of G&W games that Nintendo produced, Shane has 130th one. That's pretty freakin' early man! AC

Thank you, is there somewhere i can view the serial number database Hi Graham, For now, the database is kept on my computer. If you would like to see what it looks like, I can send you a copy of it. At some point, I'd like it to be accessible to the collectors here, but, I'm not sure how to go about doing that. It's a huge spreadsheet, and it's constantly being updated, so, any copy of it that I put here wont be up-to-date for very long. I guess I can always have it replaced every month or so, but, I'll need to talk to Mike or Andy about that to find out if the whole idea is even practical. Anyway, let me know if you would like to see a copy of it, and I can send one off to you. AC

Graham & Aatifyk, I'll put it here instead of sending the spreadsheet out. Give me some time to update the latest batch of serials I have, and then I'll try to get it uploaded soon. AC

How are we going with the serial number database... could you email me a copy to gmcoulton@hotmail.com Cheers Hi Graham & Aatif, I know you guys have both expressed interest in obtaining a copy of the Serial Number Database via e-mail, but, I'm currently having some changes made to it, and have also decided that I will find a way to post a link to it via the forum, rather than send it out to individual collectors. I'll do this after the changes have been made. AC
