I wondered if that CBF auction would be pulled! LOL! As for the PS MH, that was me. I have nothing to hide, and I certainly wont ask you to "lock" the thread either. The guy actually offered both of his PS games to me for $150, but, I had to leave to take my son to his swimming lesson, so, I missed out on his offer. In the meantime, someone offered him $120 for MH alone, so, while I wasn't the only one inquiring, he did sell me the PS MH for an agreed price. AC

Ok, I thought it was you Aris because you're big on pocketsize games right now and the listing was limited to american buyers. Thank you for admitting that.
Regarding the balloon fight crystal I have a hunch but we'll see soon enough. Funny that the buyer cancelled a bid of 350 pounds for that auction!!!

Hi guys! To make it clear im absolutely against making outside Ebay deals (since that a**h*le ripped me off) I guess some reseller got it in the end! I guess it serves me right, but i couldn´t resist when he offered me a great deal. Btw Aris the "lock thread" was meant to be a joke! Björn

Hi guys! To make it clear im absolutely against making outside Ebay deals (since that a**h*le ripped me off) I guess some reseller got it in the end! I guess it serves me right, but i couldn´t resist when he offered me a great deal. Btw Aris the "lock thread" was meant to be a joke! Björn Hey Bjorn, Well, I was only half serious with my comment about locking the thread, hence the winking smiley. So, what happened??? How did he rip you off??? I'm guessing people contacted him, told him the actual value (or what he could get if he let the auction run) and the guy tried to squeeze more money out of you. That seems to be the typical process anyway. Hopefully, you're not out any money! My opinion on this issue, is, if the seller changes his mind, they're free to do so, especially since, they can report you to ebay for trying to do a deal outside ebay, and especially if YOU suggested it. You're kinda at their mercy in this scenario, and you also run the risk of getting stiffed! Having said that, if someone tried to increase the agreed price with me, I'd basically tell them, "dude, we agreed to a certain price, if you don't want to honour that price b/c someone else contacted you and offered more for it, that's fine, send my money back plus PayPal fees, (if I already sent them money) and do your deal with the other person. But don't try to get more money out of me, b/c it ain't gonna happen". Hasn't happened to me yet, but the more exposure this sort of thing gets, the better chance "that" will also start happening more and more. LOL! AC

I'm so glad I'm out of collecting now otherwise this would present me with a real dilemma Basically, anyone who keeps the moral high ground nowadays is never going to get any rare items. There are too many other people who will do the opposite. Fact of life. Andy.

Hi! I agree 100% with Andy. Its a real dilemma. I´ve been one of those who has been cursing the outside Ebay deals. At first i just contacted the guy and asked about shipping and BIN price. But he wanted to do an outside deal. I was really suspicious all the time about the guy but it was worth the risk. Its either dealers or filthy rich collectors who gets the rare items so I took the chanse. I lost some money but the days of happiness over making a great deal was worth it! Anyway i dont recomend outside Ebay deals to anyone its to risky! Would i do it again? I dont know? Björn

The problem is what if he gets your money via paypal and never ships the item? What can you do about it then? At least you've got some kind of protection using Ebay..

Just to clarify, I regard 'outside deals' and 'asking if there is a BIN' as the same thing. Basically, you're trying to exclude other collectors in order to get a good price/guarantee the item, or both.

I don't do outside deals on ebay. But that's only because I don't know anything about the sellers and I would risk loosing my money in doing so. It's not because I have any moral issues with outside deals.' The argument that it's wrong because it's excluding other people from getting a bargain and that the seller isn't making enough on the deal, I don't buy into at all. Firstly it's not the buyers responsibility to take care of the sellers interests - you wouldn't insist on paying more if you thought your local supermarket sold their potatoes too cheap or if you came across a great bargin on a BIN auction....would you? I'm not saying that it's okay to out right cheat people. I'm just saying that if you agree on a price then, all things being equal, the price is "fair" - nomatter if you agrred on the price via bids in an auction or emails outside the auction. Secondly I don't see anyone having problems with sniping software. And I know for a fact that sniping software is very common on ebay - when I started out collecting I couldn't understand why I was always outbid in the last second Therefore my guess is that many of the people in here are using sniping software - please correct me if I'm wrong. But nomatter if your using it or not....the concept of sniping software is ebay-buying 101 - i.e. not rushing in with a bid in the beginning of an auction and waiting as long as possible before you place your final bid....all to ensure that you don't have the price driven up too far and to keep others from having a chance to place a final bid. So...Am I doing outside deals? No.... Would I do it if I felt that I could trust the seller? Without a question, yes!......and I honestly think that anyone of you guys would too

Okay Andy, you're right! He does sound like me... sometimes.... On this issue, I agree with you! I know when we bought our house, we felt it was under-priced. But, our agent did a walk through as soon as it became available, contacted us, thought we would like it, and we quickly saw it and put in our offer. The key was that we saw it early, and acted quickly, and the seller accepted our offer. I'm sure others would have paid more for it, had they seen it, or if it was on the market longer, there may have even been a bidding war for all I know, but, that's where the cliche "timing is everything" rings true. And in my opinion, it's no different with ebay auctions. Whether an auction is listed with a low BIN to begin with, or if you're able to negotiate an agreed price. Timing plays a huge role in the transaction. As for sniping software, I've never used it. I'm old fashioned that way I guess.... I search for my auctions the old fashion way, and I bid the old fashion way. AC
