Jeez, that's some SERIOUS PS you have there! I think it 's really good that you have them all out on display. Much less chance of you getting bored of them that way. Having them out allows you to appreciate their beauty and makes you realise why you paid out all that money! Leaving them in a cupboard, while perhaps the better way of protecting them, means that they fade from memory and all you can think of is how much they are worth, and eventually you will succumb to the temptation to sell them. Andy.

Thanks all for your positive reactions ! Nice find Fredoloco ! Does MDB lives in Dunkerque, France ? As mine came from there. Answering your question on my future plans in G&W-collecting ? As a fact I'd like to have all PS games. PS games are so cool ! They are far more attractive than the classical ones and in my opinion will allways be very collectible. I already made good progress in collecting the full JI21 collection & Videopoche. These are close to my homeland. I'm not going to collect all other country versions, as this never ends... What I was thinking of is to get all known versions of MM. Got 1st classic edition, JI21, Tricotronic, CGL, PS, Russian but still missing Futuretronic, 2nd, 3th and 4th classic versions, OTO and the Candia off course ! Did I forget one ? MM never appeared in blister, right ? However I'm going to take a financial sabatical now I think. I'm feeling less in a hurry now. Except when one of you presents me a once in a lifetime goody like a Candia or so.... (tip!) Greetz, Beni

Hi, congratulaions Beni ! About Rain Shower JI.21, 6 months ago I bought one in a toy office directed by a friend, and a new old stock never used ! (paid 10€ ! ;D) I stand corrected - There are now four known Ji21 RS games! Hey Mike/Andy, do we have a table of some sort for rare games? i.e. a table that lists some of the rarer G&W items around, how many are known to exist, and who owns them? If we don't have such a thing, I think it would be pretty interesting data to have. PS RS, NOA Boxing, NOA DKH, Ji21 RS, Mizuno Vermin, White SS, White CG, PS FA, PS Octopus, Candia Mickey, Smarties Popeye, SNCF Octo, Vandame Octo, Alsthom Atlantique Popeye, Dove TB, etc.. are some games that come to mind that should be on such a table. I think that's exactly what Aris says. He should browse all the thread down to get only partial infos, and all he wants is some database putting everything together.
Michael, don't you see that all Aris wants is to be usefull to the community ? Just allow him to make this DB, and then you will be able to put it on your site, giving him the credit for the work. ;D ;D

Holy F**n nuts.. Come.. How much did you spend? we all need to know. My 60 / 60 was upward of 10k I can account for $4,500 in just 3 games.. With all due respect I prefer not to answer this bold question. What did you pay your car, house, stereo ? I don't think anyone has any right on knowing this. I'm a fanatic collector really passionate about G&W. These games gave me a lot of fun in my youth. I'm ‘unfortunately’ not a spoiled rich man’s son and have to work hard and long hours for my money. On the other hand I make good money and like to spend it on things I like. So what can be more fun than to invest into my showcases’ content and knowing my beauties will keep their value at least. Interest rates are so low for the moment and the stock exchange is a global Casino nowadays. Why did I pursue the top games after having a 60/60 boxed collection ? I'm also collecting tin toy robots of the 50's and remember me thinking the same as you all now 20 years ago when prices mounted sky high after a Sothebys auction. What happened ? Prices indeed fell down again after the hype, but top pieces kept on rocketing and I would buy today without second thought some of the top items of that auction at their 'fool' prices! I also remember the quote of a famous investor: ‘Only buy what you understand!’. So maybe I’m just not smart enough to buy something else than Japanese toys Greetz & nice weekend, Beni

I agree with you Gamewatcher. I think we're talking too much about money lately in this forum. I don't remember what i paid for my complete collection. Maybe too much for some of the rare games, but i don't care, i had the money i paid for something i really liked and which i had played with in my youth. I also did it for sentimental reasons, and not for investment or to earn some money by reselling them. I don't think i will ever sell my collection, so i will not worry for a second if they are worth more or less money. I just enjoy my games and hope to do it for many years of my life and that is a lot better than money, at least for me.
By the way, congratulations for your fantastic collection, Gamewatcher!

Well Pablo, like it or not, there will always be a value associated with people's collection. So, when people start showing pics of their collection on a forum such as this, and if they have some pretty rare pieces, like Beni obviously has, it's only natural for other collectors to wonder where they got the pieces, and how much they cost. I'm not sure what you mean by your "I think we're talking too much about money lately in this forum" statement. I mean, one guy asked how much his collection cost, and that's too much? Or are you referring to the rarity guide? If you are referring to the rarity guide, then you can't really say "I agree with gamewatcher" as it was Beni that requested the TOP 20 guide and and got the ball rolling by putting up the first, and most expensive item for the list. Now, while Peter's question to Beni might have been out of line for some, it certainly isn't out of line for others. I mean, it's not like people complained and were all disappointed to find out that Paul had spent over 50 Gs on his collection (or whatever the final number was). Obviously, some people here are more private than others, so, a question like that may be better addressed via IM instead of out in the open for everyone to see. I would say over 90% of the people here did not buy their games as a financial investment. Like you, they bought the games for nostalgic purposes. However, most collections are an investment of some sort, and while many before you, and many after you, will sing the same tune of "I'll never sell my collection" or, "it will come with me to the grave" etc.... sh*t happens, our lives change, and before you know it, you're listing items on ebay, or e-mailing other collectors looking to get the best value for your games. Personally, I hope I never have to sell my core collection. I will sell extras, odds and sods, etc..., but, hopefully, I can keep at least one of everything both boxed and loose. If the day comes that you do have to sell Pablo, I'll bet you dollars to donuts you will indeed care if your games are worth absolutely nothing. Regardless of how much enjoyment you got out of them! Aris, when i refered about talking too much about money, i meant about questions of some collectors who only seem to be worried about money, and not for the games. And yeah, i also refered to the rarity guide. Didn't know Beni (is he gamewatchwer?) started this thread, as i've been out of this forum for a while. We talk about rarity or money? they are not always related. When i said i agreed with him is because i also think is no one's businness to know what you spent in your collection as other things of your life. You say most of collectors look their collection as some kind of investment. I agree, but for me it is an investment of happiness. If someone looks it more as a financial investment, i respect it but i do not see it this way. And Aris, i don't want to think about all the bad things that could happen to me to decide selling my collection. Right now i'm alive and happy with my collection, so why i have to think in all the money i could get for my games?

Hello,
Sorry to have added the value subject to the forum. Value for rare items is indeed very relative. If 2 items are known and one is sold for x it is not shure the other will also end up to make the same price...
What I do like is the renewed discussion on rare items. Ebay is indeed a source, but not the only one. You collectors also know about private deals and can indicate more correctly the rarity of an item. This is what a forum like this is about I think. No value discussions I agree.
So anyone who wants to add to the rarity guide, feel free. Just forget about the € or $ 's . This is just boring anyway... ;D
Greetz,
Beni

Except when one of you presents me a once in a lifetime goody like a Candia or so.... (tip!) Greetz, Beni Hey, Been a while since I posted something. I'm now the lucky owner of 8 out of 9 Videopoche and added PS Pinball & PS Manhole to my list. I now have a new mission: collect all known variations of WS MM. I already had 5 versions: PS, JI.21,Tricotronic, CGL & classic 1st edition. If anyone can help me on other versions Future Tronic, OTO,... You would make a happy man !!! I was surprised however to notice on Ebay an Albanel. I never heard of it before. I bidded and got lucky. This is now nbr. 6 combining a classic 2nd or 3th edition (not shure yet) and a specific French game with french text on the front. On the back there is a sticker instead of the normal embossed technical data. Strange they didn't change Wide Screen in Grand Ecran as at JI.21 versions, not ? Anyone has more info on these Albanel versions ? Are there many games ? This is more than an ordinary country dealer to me as Nintendo changed the game itself to sell their games to this dealer. The box however is a classic one with some stickers on it. Other collectors already showed pictures of games with french text on it. Did they also had the same sticker on the back ? Maybe they all are Albanel, not ? It seems that French companies had a lot of priviliges in changing the look and feel of the games. Other countries just had to deal with another box and in France they have many different covers, even promotional ones. Strange, from Japan you would expect they made some exceptions, but why France ? Here the pictures for those who have missed the Ebay listing: Greetz, Beni
