I have recently discovered the joys of www.facebook.com and I wanted to encourage as many forum members as possible to join (I explain why below).
OK, for anyone who already knows about it this is not going to be of any interest, so don't bother reading any further....
For everyone else - It is very similar to "Friends Reunited" (ie it's a social networking website), however it shits all over Friends Reunited (in a good way) for two simple reasons.
1. It is completely free (no registration charge whatsoever).
2. It is much quicker/easier to use and much more FUN to use.
Until 2 weeks ago I hadn't even heard of the site. Someone sent me an email asking me to join so I did. I only joined about 10 days ago, and already it is one of my top 5 favourite websites EVER...
Registration is very simple - just give them your email address and choose a password. That's it - you're registered.
The next bit may seem controversial, but I can assure you it is quite safe.
Facebook asks you to give them your regular email address (again) + the password you use to log in.
(Read www.facebook.com/policy.php for reassurance that it is perfectly safe for you to do this).
Facebook then trawls your Contact "Address Book" and asks you who you would like to invite to be your "friend" (starting with the people who are already registered with facebook - it KNOWS - Well, I'm easily impressed).
Then you can invite anyone else (who isn't registered, but IS in your contact list) to be a "friend".
Once someone has agreed to "be your friend" (stay with me on this) you can see *their* friends and vice versa, and very quickly you have a neat network set up.
I'm boring myself writing this. Basically, just get on and REGISTER and you'll be glad you did.
See you there soon.
