That fly shot cracks me up every time! Edit: None of those shots used a dedicated macro lens, either.

Hi Mike! thanks for the 2 shots... nice pictures and nice quality. How far were you from the Gooses. About 30 metres or something, I used the full focal length of that specific lens; 135mm. Digitally with my Canon (*1.6) that would be 216mm. The macro on treknature are outstanding... but none are done with a EOS350D Mike That's logical because the 350d is very, very new. Only 2 or 3 people registered at TN have it now. Expect more pictures in the future. Regards, Pieter

Mike,
I suggest buying it through the i-net in Germany, it's cheapest there.

Hey i dont mean to hijack you thread but since this is on digi cameras....I am thinking of getting my first digi camera...nothing special and hopefully nothing too costly.
I have seen the Pentax S5n which is 5.0 mega pixels and which has mpeg4. Any comments.
I heard that 4.0 mega pixels and 5.0 mega pixels isnt really that much difference.

MIke Sounds too good to be true and it probably is. It's probably one of those 'Pay me 139euro and I'll show you how you can get a 300D cheap.' I'd avoid it if I were you. To answer wilson's question, the number of megapixels isn't the most important consideration when buying a digi-camera. Especially if you don't plan to print anything more than 6x4 inches most of the time. a 6x4 print from a 4 or 5 megapixel camera would look identical. The difference would only start to show if you were to look at an A4 or bigger sized print. Andy. Andy.

Mike, there is another way of getting good close-ups, cheaper than buying a macro lens, and that is to buy a close-up filter. It's basically a special thin lens that screws on the front of any existing lens, like a filter, and allows you to focus very close-up even when the lens you are using normally wouldn't focus that close. There are different strengths with different magnifications. Canon exampleAndy.

Go for CANON, but I don't expect you'll find a 300D for much less than 500 euros (a used one). And a 350D, forget it, the price will be high until the next one comes out......
ebay is a good a place as any, if you want one cheap.
Andy.
