I've recently bought a Nintendo neon sign and I have a question to anyone that might know something about it: how long do neon signs last ? I've heard that they don't last long (a couple of years, maybe less ?). I currently have it on all day and all night long but I'm thinking that it might be better if I switched it off during the night.
Any comments ?

Well first question is : what's the point of keeping it switched on during the night (unless if you are a vampire, a werewolf or that you do not sleep during night ) Concerning the time they last, i assume it's the same as custom neon light, a few years. Mike

Because there's no switch and I have to pull the plug each time to switch it off and because it looks very nice at night..

Are you sure it's actually Neon (i.e. a tube filled with neon gas) or just a coloured bulb or flourescent tube? Those ones we discussed a while back didn't look like they were neon. I'm not sure exactly how you tell, but just because it's a coloured light, doesn't make it neon. If it uses a standard flourescent tube, it'll be easily replaceable anyway. Andy.

Mike, if they are the ones we saw selling for 0.01 with 29.99 shipping, I doubt it very much that they are neon. Neon lights are expensive to make and they are usually made by shaping the neon tube into the logo that you want (but you already knew this). The ones from Hong Kong that we saw were just a logo etched onto glass/plastic, and any light source shone onto the surface would light up the logo, neon wouldn't be necessary. Can you get to the bulb to take it out? If so, take it to a lighting shop and ask them. Andy.

Hmm.. the seller said that this was a neon sign and it really looks like neon, there's no other light source that I can see! But to answer your question, I got it from a hong kong seller who sold it cheaply. I won't open it to check - I'll do it in case the light goes off or something..

I think these use the same neon tubes they use for computer tuning since these give really very strong light, they are very clear, and diameter is only 4 mm, in my pc I have a blue one, costed around 18 euro including a sound sensitive I can put on so the light goes with the music, or just "always on", I guess if you buy only the neon stick, they're cheaper, you have colors like blue, red, green, ...
I think I have some spares, I will take picture later,
