www.trekearth.com/This is a fabulous site and I thought I'd better post the link in this general chat forum as many of you (Andy, Brendan) told me in my holiday thread, they were keen photograpers. This is the ultimate phot-site. Register, upload, comment & criticize. It's fun, addictive and you can learn so much from others. Regards, sAner

Great site, Thanks for the url Pieter. Maybe I should upload some pictures from Finland. I just got my new Ixus 40 - TheJake You should really register and upload some pics! Altough the limit is 1 photo per day per member ... it's addictive!! sAner Pieter, you know you will make me sick ! Check the Botswana pics... I know! Check the Asia-pics from this guy: www.trekearth.com/members/clodreno/and especially this photo: www.trekearth.com/gallery/Asia/India/photo73559.htmAnd remember: this guys is just an amateur! sAner Yeah, check it out. Some fantastic shots!!!! Yes, indeed! Some shots are just too good! There is only one problem ... after a while your own photos (which you thought were very good) will seem a lot less perfect ... Wow, there's a lot of talent in the world! sAner

Great find, Pieter!
I'll have to explore that later....
What would you say you need to make a great photo?
I'm thinking 60% skill, 40% subject/location.
I keep telling myself that I need to go and find some good locations to get some better pictures, but if you can get such a good picture of a taxi driver, then maybe I'm wrong, I would have said 70% location before.
Andy.

Andy. Hey Andy, Yes, I was very pleased to find this site. It's fantastic, you can litteraly view photos of every city in the world (if someone uploaded a pic of that specific town of course!) and the photos are just marvelous (most of the times). Before I found this site I thought like you; 70 to 80 % of what makes a great photo is subject/location. That's why I told you guys that NZ is so great. Since I have seen the photos on TrekEarth submitted by this French guy (Claude Renault) I think at least 70 a 80% is skill and equipment, only 20 a 30% is subject/location. This TrekEarth site is so addictive; they have hundreds of thousands of great phots, every day more get uploaded (hundreds a day) and you can upload your own pics and then other can reward you with points, criticize your pics or give you tips. Great! Try it! It's free. sAner

I checked out your pics already, Andy! Very nice! Every member can only upload 1 picture per day (that's a basic rule, otherwise the site will get floaded). Did you know you can add in your profile which cameras you have? You can pick virtually EVERY camera available. Once you have done that, you can choose one of your cameras with every pic you upload. sAner Ps-Don't criticize my Enkhuizen-picture yet as I will be uploading a better version asap! Ps-Andy, can you read the reply I gave you (the reply on your comment on my Fjord-pic that is)?

Thanks for your compliments Cedric! It's great that you will also register! It doesn't really matter what camera you have, just upload your best pics! In the past I had a Canon Ixus aswell and I made some good shots with it. I will buy a scanner soon and scan the ixus images ... I really like the photo of the three little kids in Senegal myself. That little guy with the empty plastic bottle was such a great kid! I felt so sorry to leave him again ... sAner Ps-Be sure to tell us your TE username!
