Do any other forum members play futsal (indoor soccer)?
Tonight my team played in a semi final. We started poorly and found ourselves down 3-0 early on. Then late in the first half I took a run from deep, the ball was crossed to me and I met it perfectly, blasting it into the roof of the net.
Halftime, down 3-1.
Second half and we came out blazing. So many close chances but we just couldn't put the ball in the net. Then the referee awards the opposition a very dubious penalty. 4-1.
We were down but not out. We came back at them. Goal!!! 4-2. Goal!!! 4-3. Goal!!! 4-4.
Three minutes left on the clock and we undid all our hard work by conceding a soft goal. 5-4 down.
25 seconds left and somehow we scramble an equaliser. 5-5. Time runs out and the game goes to 5 minutes golden goal.
Chances at both ends but nobody can score in extra time. The game goes to a penalty shootout.
Both sides score their first 2 each. Up steps our captain but he hits the crossbar and it bounces down and out. They score. 3-2 to them. Up I step. I hit it well but it smacks against the post and rebounds out. Aaaaarrrrggghhh. They miss, we score. 3-3 and they have one kick left. They score and win 4-3 on penalties.
A great game and a cruel way for us to lose.
Ah well there's always next season. And it's only 2-3 months until my new season of normal outdoor soccer starts.

Alan, when you say indoor soccer, is it something like 5-a-side one ? A lot of people play 5-a-side soccer here (I don't though as I'm lame at that, I used to play tennis and basketball - and still do) and it's been popular here since this year's european championship..

Yes it's 5 players on each team and it's played on an indoor basketball court.
In Australia, the game is played with two 18 minute halves and unlimited substitutions (which you need because the game is so fast).

Sounds like every England international game I've ever watched. Andy.
