Can anyone help me with adding a counter and a guestbook to my website? I know there are a lot of free utilities out there but I'd prefer a custom/home made one (without all the ads!), so if there's anyone with knowledge of such things and would like to help, please e-mail me.
thanks
Andy.

You mean you want to pay for a guestbook and/or counter Andy ? What do you mean "custom one" ?

I mean one that I write myself using programming that someone can provide/help me with. They are pretty simple to do, apparently, but I don't have the programming skills. I don't want one of the ready-made free counters because they usually come with a banner or some ads. I also don't want to pay for one.

Well, most counters don't have ads (only a small image to link to the host of these counters and nothing else). There's no reason to reinvent the wheel unless you're doing it to learn programming.. Anyway, if you're still interested in doing it, you have to decide what language you're going to use. Then, you can use any of the free source code available in the Internet. You can find lots of examples..
Guestbooks is an entirely different matter and it's pretty hard to program if you're not keen with a programming language. There are a lot of free solutions here too and some of them don't have ads either.
