I think I will buy it, had tons of fun with the original Half-Life and especially with the multi player games. Not sure about how my pc will handle it though, I'm not planning to upgrade it. (I've got a 2.4Ghz Pentium IV, 512MB DDR and Radeon 9700TX 128MB DDR)
I reckon you got the game? Whats it like? It looks superb and I like the look of the weapons.

I bought it yesterday (the only game I've bought the past 3 years!) because I think that the original Half-Life was the best game I've ever played. I haven't played with it yet though - I'll let you know how it is..
I've read in various boards that it doesn't require a monster system although if you own one, you'll enjoy it to the fullest. The screenshots I've seen are jaw-dropping!

Well let split my notation for this game in X parts : - Technical part : i would give a 10... NEVER HAVE IMAGINE THAT A GAME COULD BE SO REALISIC AND BEAUTIFULL.... the havoc engine is stunning...
- Playability : Also a 10 when playing gordon, but a 9 when driving vehicules (havoc engine is to "speedy")
- Fun factor : incredibly high
- story : 7/10 this is the bad point of the game, as the story begins afterthe end of half-life when gordon was "recruited" by the G-Man... but there is almost no continuation of the story from half-life1 and there is in fact no story in half life 2.... it's more a "find your way out" game, where we have to find our way out of city 17... fighting against local security and sometimes helped by citizen (rebels).
a last point is that the game is too easy ... it took me 20 hours to finish it.... But i'll play again and again on the next level of difficulty... i think i'll buy it again when half-life source will be availlable... Not sure about how my pc will handle it though, I'm not planning to upgrade it. (I've got a 2.4Ghz Pentium IV, 512MB DDR and Radeon 9700TX 128MB DDR) I reckon you got the game? Whats it like? It looks superb and I like the look of the weapons. Well i have a PIV 3Ghz with 512 and a GeForce 5700 128Mb, i play in 1280*1024 + Antialiasing 2X and anisotropic 2X It's more than smooth... Concerning the weapons, they are beautifull. more than realistic [glow=Purple,2,300]EllieVance[/glow]

I tried it yesterday, the graphics are wonderful and it's smooth at 1024x768 (all settings at high) with my ti4600 and athlon xp 2700. Did you play it at easy level Mike ? I think I'll start it at normal..

I think I'll start it at normal.. Michael I think i have done at easy level as i wanted to see all the game rapidly... Now i'm gonna take my time and play on hard level. I assume it's lame to play such a game at an easy level... but trust me... some place in that game are insane on an easy level... i just do not imagine how it will be on hardcore level...DOH... i won't say where or when... but somewhere in the game you have to stand in a place with 4 entrances, and there are at least 50 to 60 foes with weapon to fight....... on an easy level after well Some Save/reload i finished all of the foes with 4 life point.... i should say that i miss some training as there's a long time that i didn't play such a game but anyway it was hard... I started it at normal level yesterday.. Didn't have much time to play so I'm still at the beginning. The graphics are fantastic! This is the first game I've seen that uses lights and shadows so well! And the graphics engine is so well implemented that I can play it at 1024x768 with anisotropic and antialiasing on with only a bit of stuttering (unlike doom 3 where I had to play the game at medium detail)!
I'll soon buy a 6600GT so I'll post impressions then too since the graphics are even better when you use directx9!

Hello, I must have been confused, the display is a halo 2 display and not a halflife 2 display, These are pics, Greets, David

Is half life 2 counter strike? (Or is it similar?). Either way I'm always playing counter strike at the local I-net cafe.

Counter Strike is a modified version of Half Life's game engine. It just uses the same platform so it has the same limitations as Half Life. There is no similarities in the actual games as such, but they're both great games ;D To be honest, I prefer the adventure/storyline type games (1st person shooter) as opposed to just hunting people on the same level just to kill them. You know, where you have to find/activate stuff in order to get to new areas... pulse8
