Hi All,
I've been wondering why there has been stuff all posts of recent, then I sort traced the major drop off back to when the general forum got locked to reg users only. For what ever reason....
Can't we get it unlocked again? I know I don't know my password, on my system I have the cookie set to unlimited, which means I can't see / post if I use another computer (pain in the butt)
Anyhow, maybe the forum member can vote on it....

That makes no sense. Unregistered users couldn't post anyway, so that change would have zero effect on the number of posts.
I think that a major reason is that a lot of collectors interests have moved elsewhere, because they have finished collecting, or given up or whatever. And we know that arguments cost a few active members. I'm sure there are other reasons, and they all add up.
Maybe the locking of the general forum would have an effect on new visitors but if they were true collectors, they'd just sign up anyway.
Andy.

Brendan, there is no lockdown, I sometimes wonder with the choice of your words.. ! Any registered user can view the game&watch stuff forum. I remember explaining why I did this and I don't want to go into it again.
Why can't you login again from your office computer ?

Well basically I move around a lot of computers, and can't be bothered, so if there was somthing interesting in there to reply too, I wouldn't know... and I suspect a few people are in the same boat...
which brings me to second point which mike just illistrated by moving my post. Given the number of post this forum has it seems unconstructive to have some many seperate areas? Does anyone actually have the time to look in every single area? all I check is sales, and the main threads (when Im on the right computer)... all the rest is just to hard.
and finally my last point, if you want new members they need to find the site, and to do that they will most likly use google. If google cant see the posts and build data on what the sites about then you may miss hits.....

I usually just check the "20 most recent posts" and navigate from there... A part from that I have bookmarked some threads such as my collection, my want/sell, and the top50... But yeah I come here often!

Brendan, since there are only a few posts every day, the "view 20 most recent posts" option should be sufficient . I can increase the number if the needs arise. You have a point about google but I think all the other forums would cover most keywords people usually search for.
According to the statistics we don't have any problem in visitor numbers. But since only people really interested in the games (collectors, owners, sellers) would sign up, we don't have that many new users.
All the forums have their distinctive purpose. I don't see any problem with this.
