Welcome Martin, you have a nice collection and a very nice blog! Good luck with your collection! I know that once you start, you can't stop!
The game&watch ringtones are a good idea. Maybe you should record the sounds from the tabletop or panorama games. There's some kind of music at certain points in the game..

Hi Martin
Nice blog. I don't usually look at many sites of new collectors, as I get the sense of 'I've seen it all before' but yours was quite refreshing.
I thought that the 'Plumber bastard Mario' comment was quite funny!
You've left a html tag in the text of your YM-105 page.
It seems that you find nearly all of the games boring! Some of us agree, with some of the games anyway, but that doesn't stop us loving them! I haven't got my games out of storage for months, but seeing photos of them all on your site made me realise how much I love them!
Well done, keep up the good work!
Andy

You have a very nice site Martin! And welcome to the forum and the comunity btw. I think you should at least reconsider collecting the pano's: they're so great! And they're pretty flat anyway.

Hi and welcome to you, And congrats for your site which is really pleasant to browse. +1 about the Pano's. They're amongst the ones I prefer. I think their conception makes them look like a very smart object (moreover regarding the times they were designed). But in fact, we should not insist to convince you, as it would be one more buyer to compete with... ;D

Hi, thanks for all your lovely comments! I intend to go for the panorama's and table tops when my "flat" collection is complete. It's costing me too much already since I am new to eBay AND new to G&W collecting I hope to record more sounds as soon as I get new games. Indeed I think a lot of the G&W games are repetitive and boring, but I LOVE playing the Donkey Kong series. Also, I love the G&W games for reasons other than the games itself: - I played them as a 10-year old nostalgia (first electronics ever to enter the house). A few weeks ago I found Parachute and I nearly cried - I am a systems designer and am stunned by the beauty & simplicity of some of the games which Nintendo built with very limited LCD possibilities. - As a games designer I love the way most of the little people / characters in most of the games are designed. Other than that I am a big Nintendo fan(got a Wii) EVEN though I really no longer like the endless "Mario", "Wario", "Princess Toadstool", "Luigi" etc games. Nintendo KNOWS how to design games and keep them simple as well as fun, and my guess is they learned all that in the eighties when doing the G&W series. Martin

Yes, the Wii is a great success, Nintendo still knows how to produce interesting systems!
