I've been thinking about serial numbers lately, and was wondering if serial number 00000001 actually exists? If not, what would have been the first serial number issued? Then I thought, hmmm... I wonder, who amongst all the collectors here, owns the game with the lowest serial number on it?
I've perused some of the threads on serial numbers, and If I understand it correctly, the Silver series of games, should have lower serial numbers than the Gold series, Gold should be lower than Wide, and Wide should be lower than New Wide, etc.... Though, I guess there is some cross-over, so, depending which batch a game was produced in, a Silver game can have a higher serial number than a Gold game.
I pulled out all of my Silver and Gold games, and here's what I found:
Ball (CGL version) - 04808828
Toss-Up (OEM version) - 00192549
Flagman (Mego version) - 00050698
Flagman (Mego version) - 00053677
Flagman (G&W version) - 03342934
Vermin (G&W version) - 01820757
Vermin (G&W version) - 04558287
The Exterminator - no serial
The Exterminator - 00327915
The Exterminator - 00348879
Fireman Fireman - 00362003
Fireman Fireman - no serial
Judge (green) - 00791320
Judge (purple) - 06282611
Manhole - 02816869 What are the chances of having two Manhole games with consecutive serial numbers?
Manhole - 02816870 What are the chances of having two Manhole games with consecutive serial numbers?
Manhole - 06295155
Manhole - 07131856
Helmet - 02340932
Helmet - 05353729
Lion - 02865212
So, based on this information, my lowest serial number is on my Mego Flagman, serial number 00050698. A far cry from 00000001! Does anyone have anything lower than this? It would be interesting to see just how close to the very first serial number issued we can get.
