Here is 2 very rare items, too bad the seller ended them early!! PS Octopus, previously owned by Devster? BRAND NEW PS OCTOPUSPS Oil Panic, also previously owned by Devster? BRAND NEW PS OIL PANICBoth had pretty decent bids on them already, but my guess is that the seller realized it wouldn´t reach the prices he wanted! (or he got private offer.. but not likely!) I remember the days when there was HONEST sellers around, letting the games go to the highest bidder! I mean IF you think the item will end too low!? Use reserve, higher start price or even best offer. The options are quite generous!! I´m glad I don´t collect these anymore, since it´s seems just to be about the money nowadays.... Good luck to you who do collect them. They are nice additions to the collection. Too bad some ruins the fun in collecting them..

I dont know how easy it is to end auction with bids. I remember you had to enter reason and so...

You can end the auction early at any time.. Yes, you have to choose a reason but that means nothing and there's no penalty or something.. Most people that end buying these rare items nowadays are looking to resell them and don't really care about collecting them..

Wow, that is some SERIOUS money! I guess that these should go on to the 'most expensive items list', if they are not there already. Surely they must be the highest prices ever for a G&W? Andy

Andy AC, Yes, they do belong there, and they are indeed "SERIOUS money" as you suggested, but, they are not the highest prices ever paid for a G&W. AC

AC Well, since I wrote that post I realised that the 'most expensive' thread excludes private deals, which these were, so they don't belong. Andy.

Andy,
Why would you say these are private deals? They sold via ebay, and the price is right there for all to see (as opposed to someone saying "I sold my PS RS for 5K" or something like that). At any rate, for what it's worth, these are the highest prices I've seen for G&W games sold via ebay.

At any rate, for what it's worth, these are the highest prices I've seen for G&W games sold via ebay. AC I thought that was obvious. The seller lists them as auctions, which where then pulled, and added again with high BIN prices. the auctions then ended a few minutes later. The seller was obviously offered a sum which he was happy with, but couldn't add the BIN to the original auctions as they had bid on them. So, he relisted and the deal was done. I don't think there's any other explanation for the sequence of events. Andy By the way, my definition of a 'private deal' for the purposes of this conversation is that a price is agreed between the seller and the buyer. Not necessarily a deal done outside ebay. This is why I don't think these belong on the list. I didn't write the rules for the list, but by the rules that have been set, they don't belong.

This is why I don't think these belong on the list. I didn't write the rules for the list, but by the rules that have been set, they don't belong. Ah, well, in that case, I see why you're calling these private deals. Of course that is obviously what happened here, but, my interpretation of a private deal was one that was done outside of ebay not one done via ebay for a set price. Personally, I would not consider that a private deal. Otherwise all BIN auctions could be considered private deals. Pashci listed those games most likely to get an idea of what they would sell for. He has up until 12 hours left in the auction to cancel the auction. Everyone has this option. He sees they're not quite as high as he wants, and is worried they may sell for less than what he paid, so, he cancels the auctions. Along the way, he may have received offers etc... He then figures out what profit margin he's happy with and re-lists them as such and they sell. I don't see anything wrong with that. As a seller, ebay is an enormous advertising forum for you. And while it may not be "right" to use ebay to advertise your products and then sell privately outside ebay, people do it all the time, and they will justify it by complaining about things such as fees, lack of support when contacting ebay about problems etc... In the end, whether they get added or not, is not a big deal to me. All I know is they're the highest prices I've seen G&W sell for on ebay, and from a stats perspective, it's a pity we don't keep track of it here. Having said that, Patrick's site tracks all sorts of stats-based data, so, all is not lost after all. AC
