Hi! I am very new to this site and also very new to this hobby. Quick introduction to me: I started gaming a few years ago when I got a Wii for my birthday, didn't ever get any other consoles until end of 2015 where I started going a little bit HAM! I got a 3DS preowned end of year at EBGames and from then on got into retro game collecting, having got an original gameboy, GBA SP, Playstation 1, Playstation 2 (kind of), a psp all for (most of the time) fairly cheap. I was introduced to the Game and Watch collecting hobby when I went to a garage sale around mid last year and bought a Mickey and Donald Game and Watch (complete in used condition) for 50 cents, this was actually my first gaming pickup at a garage sale. So, this has inspired me to start collecting, but I am quite stingy (also I live in New Zealand, and Game and Watches aren't so plentiful on our eBay equivalent: Trademe), which has resulted in my collection barely growing. However, I would like to hear whether or not YOU, yes you, have found any Game and Watches recently for dirt cheap (!), or below retail... Or retail... If you want! I'm interested to see whether or not people are still finding Game and Watches for cheap, given the retro game bubble that has occurred. Thanks, Liam. By the way these finds can be from eBay, garage sales, thrift shops, carboot sales, a friend... Anything! Just tell the world what you've picked up recently Game and Watch related

For anyone interested or curious to know, my collection consists of only the one Mickey and Donald Game and Watch (complete: used, bought for 50 cents) and two other lcd games that are VEEEEERY similar to Game and Watches: Romtec Bury the Monsters (loose: used, bought for $35 but I got it for a christmas present) and Grandstand Mr Wood Man (complete: quite used, bought for $26), both fairly rare handhelds that don't appear much on eBay.

I know this is a couple of months old now but I thought I'd reply. The lack of replies is because either nobody hangs around here any more or because nobody has true 'finds' nowadays. I expect, and hope, it's the latter. I was quite surprised to see that you had found a G&W out in the wild. This used to be extremely common but now ebay is a household name, people get rid of their stuff there rather than selling via a garage sale. I'm sure you know this already. I used to go out to 5-6 car boot sales every week at the height of my collecting. I'm going back to 1998-mid 2000's now. Back in those glory days I could pretty much guarantee finding a G&W every week on average. Sometimes 4 or 5 a week, sometimes none. As the years went on and ebay became more popular, the finds dried up. I saw more competition for the same things at boot sales, either collectors or ebay resellers. Eventually I would come away empty handed more often than not. I still kept going, just for the hunt, but eventually I gave up. It has to be at least 10 years since I found a G&W at a car boot sale, and I do still go, just not as often. I would be extremely surprised if I ever see another one. Bargains can still be had online either with poorly described games or just by pure luck if you put in low bids on some games and get lucky. Just for the record, my cheapest ever G&W at car boot sales were a Marios cement factory for 5 pence and a Mario the Juggler for 20 pence I hardly ever paid more than 1 pound for any game. Those were the days...... Andy
