It's amazing that we keep on finding new things. Some theories about why these may have been carded: It was a later phase of trying to sell these games. Perhaps something like they were unsold stock that they tried to shift by re-packaging or something. I remember when I was a kid and these games were new, the stock was all locked away in glass cabinets, as they were so valuable. These carded games were obviously designed to be hung up in the store, freely accessible, which suggests they were after the main sales craze. Or: I remember we've seen carded DC-95 Mickey Mouse Panorama, only on sale in Disney stores. Maybe it's something like that, packaged especially for a chain of stores that had hanging storage as opposed to shelves. Great find, anyway. Did you pay a high price or get a bargain? Andy

Wow! That's a great find! Congrats! Where did you find it Eric? I bet this wasn't listed on e-bay, right? The price would have gone through the roof! I agree with Andy that it's most likely carded Pocketsize games were sold in a special chain of stores or were manufactured for special occasions. What a find!

Thanks guys. Andy. I'd say I got a bargain. sAner, I bought it from a local US seller. It's really hard to theorize about why this game was carded. I'm glad the card is dated 1983 with the NOA company name at the bottom. Was there really a "later phase" with unsold stock of Pocketsize games? I can't imagine such a short run of games would have had unsold stock to dump. Usually that would mean a lot of NOS are still floating around out there like DK Hockey, and we've never seen a carded PS before. Although you do have a point, in that most carded/blistered games we know of were created to milk whatever money they could towards the end of the run, but usually by MicroGames USA or other small companies obtaining a license from Nintendo.

Wow, Fantastic find Ash! Just when you thought you'd seen it all. I wonder what other PS titles are around in carded format. Jason

It would be brilliant, if a full set was to exist.

Sorry guys, it is indeed a joke. Things were very dull in here so I thought I'd try to liven things up a bit. I put it together with MS Paint. I had to make the photo smaller because it was too obvious a fake at first. I should have made it even smaller. I guess it looks real at a glance if you're viewing on a small screen. I sure wish it was real... By the way, Maxime's reaction is my favorite. Just to be clear, the carded Octo is fake, but the carded Snoopy Tennis is genuine.
