The fading on the outside would be understandable.. But the fading in the inside is difficult.. It is clean and the Green color is spread evenly on the rear cover from outside and inside as well. From the inside i argue that it is genuine green. We need to dig more in this matter. Probably we have a genuine GREEN MANHOLE at hand to discover.

Although it looks like there are also splotches of a yellowish color on the inside of the battery cover etc. There's no telling what that game went through. The green does look pretty evenly distributed though. Can we see the front?

Talking about the serial, how could you explain its colour...?
About the yellow marks on the inside of battery cover, it's probably come from corroded battries reacting with the plastic.
If we knew where the game has been stored for all those years, that could explain why it's so dirty (what's this nuts material on the back).

Correct pheldge. I have the original batteries of this same as they were stored in the battery compartment. It was totally corroded and rusted. I still have the batteries with me. Theres some kind of clay material stuck on to the game. I will take pictures of the front and post it here.

Just did a little research and found that a batch of Donkey Kong Jr. New Wide Screens were being produced at the same time as this NWS Manhole. Both models are in the 190xxxxx serial number range. So I'd say it's very possible that a mix-up in the factory produced a very limited run of Manholes in DKJR green! Discuss!

That's Fantastic Ash.. So we have a new discovery.. A GREEN MANHOLE produced along with NWS Donkey Kong Jr.. The front and rear cover is exactly the same as of the NWS DK JR.. Have we got anybody on the forum with the same kind?
We need to conclude that we have indeed found a GREEN MANHOLE.. The serial number says a lot about these games.. Good research Ash..
Will upload the front pictures too..
Thank you again for the update..

Just looked again and found out that even Popeye was still being produced at that time, but for the North American Pocketsize series: 1905xxxx Popeye (Pocketsize range) 1906xxxx Manhole (Pocketsize range) 1907xxxx DKJR The closest serial number in the database to your green Manhole (19066102) was 19067981, which is only 1,879 units apart. And that serial number is for a Pocketsize Manhole. Can everyone in here with a PS Manhole list the serial number here and state whether it is blue or green?

As I understand it, only the back of the game is green right? In this case I believe it's discoloration, most likely caused by heat or whatever judging by the condition of the game. Even if it isn't (which I sincerely doubt it), you've got half a rare game since the front is in the original color.. All releases with different colors than their regular counterparts had a different color on both front and back cases.
If this was indeed a factory mistake, it would not have been released like that. Someone would have noticed the difference in the colors of the front and back.. Nintendo willfully released games in different colors but I don't think they would release anything like that..

Looking at those pictures, the inside photos are a lot more blue than they are green. They are certainly not the same green, say, as a donkey kong Jr. In my opinion, this is a standard blue manhole that's suffered severe discoloration by means of prolonged exposure to some outside source. Jusging by the look of it, it's been underwater or underground for a very long time. That would prefectly explain why the outside is very green and the inside not so much. If this was a mistake at the factory, the inside would be the same colour as the outside. Aatifk, I can understand your initial excitement, but I think you're clutching at straws. Mistakes sent to India? Andy

Usually the sun will only cause discoloration to the exposed area, not the inside. But then again, the game looks like it took a trip to hell and back, so the inside could have been discolored at some point when it was laying around open to the elements. Still waiting for pics of the other side Aatif. Also, how about a pic of the green portion next to the back of a DKJR, Popeye, and regular Manhole so we can compare?

Hi Ash.. I will do as you suggested.. I was out of town for a good week.. Now i am back.. I will take pictures of this with the regular Popeye and DKJR..
Micheal the rear cover is GREEN from inside out.. And also has a front cover as DKJR.. Not the regular manhole front cover.. As you have suggested Micheal.. It has both the covers of of either Popeye or DKJR..
Andy.. It is indeed GREEN.. And i aint clutching any straws Andy.. It is GREEN.. You will have to see to believe it..

Hi All.. I have managed to clean this game for a better quality picture.. As Ash suggested i have taken the pictures along side DKJR, POPEYE and Manhole.. Hope these pictures will give us a better view in deciding the game's future.. Please discuss.. Wow, it's hard to say. Definitely looks green next to the regular Manhole, but looks like a slightly different hue than both Popeye and DKJR. I guess it looks closer to DKJR out of the two.
