Is it worth getting? There are a lot circulating in Ebay, do you know if they are all authentic?

Haven't got one yet..... But I am looking actively for one. So I'll get back to you when I've found the right one As to wether or not they're authentic....Well I really don't know. But my guess is that a VB is a pretty safe bet in most circumstances. They're obviously not that sought after, so why bother going through the trouble of pulling a hoax for a product not that many people wants? Furthermore they where never popular to begin with, so "vintage fakes" shouldn't be an issue either. Only make shure that it's complete and in good condition - there's enough floating around, so you don't have to settle for a banged up one with stuff missing....I'm thinking the stand would be a pain to have missing

I bought one off of ebay with 7 games around 3 years ago. I got the boxed american version (japanese is the other option). I played it a fair amount when I first got it but it got boring quite quickly because the games aren't great and it isn't comfortable to use. I also tended to get a slight headache if I played it for too long, which is one of the major reasons they stopped manufacturing it. However it is a very nice console in itself and a mint boxed game looks great too - it's much easier to find a c10 virtual boy game than a c10 game & watch. So I'd say if you wanted the console just to play you might be slightly disappointed if you don't just get a cheap unboxed one, but if you want one to add to your nintendo collection (the reason I bought mine) then you shan't regret it.

Yes, I'm looking to add it to my Nintendo collection but I also wanted to know if the 3d effect is an interesting novelty and adds to the games or not. I wonder how it looks..

The 3D effect is quite cool for some games, teleroboxer being my favourite, but for others it isn't used particularly well. You may already know this but all the games are in black and red with no other colours, which makes them a bit less exciting to look at.

I just recieved my VB today..... And if you're a Nintendo-collector you should definitely get it.... But as Paul said you shouldn't get it if you're expecting a new best video game console friend But as a Nintendo-geek it offers lots of reasons to get one. Firstly it's (to my knowledge) the first and (so far) only seriously big blunder by Nintendo in the video game industry. Having to mash your face into a big red thing should have set off the alarms at Nintendo - when seing it, it should be clear to anybody (including Nintendo brass) that this is, by design, the pinacle of confirming the stereotypes of video games...it's anti-social and (quite litterally) blocking out the real world...... This makes it an interesting and funny part of Nintendo history for any Nintendo fan Secondly (and perhaps despite the shortcommings of the system) it actually do hold some really innovative features.... The obvious thing is that it's, if not the first, then one of the first instances of real 3D in gaming history - this alone lends a place of interest in gaming history. The other thing is that there had obviously been put a lot of thought into the controller in regards to making it more ergonamically correct. It is however up for debate wether the VB was first in that area - The Playstation came out around the same time and Sega's controller for the Mega Drive, with it's rounded and better grip-providing shape, was out long before any of them. But it can't be denied that the N64 controller (which in my opinion was the best controller at the time) owes much of its design to the VB. So my final say in the matter is that you can't go wrong with a VB! Buy one....play it until your eyes and neck hurt...then pack it away....but remember to unpack it everytime have somebody visit you.... Because a stupid, fascinating and wierd thing as this will give a kick to anybody when seeing and trying it

Michael Yeah....and as Paul said....the 3D actually works - which, by the standards of time, was far from the case of other products claiming to be in 3D By the way...and this is a bit off topic..... But as we're all Nintendo freaks here I guess it's okay But do you know anything about whether or not Nintendo ever did any market research before developing their systems? The reason I ask is that in general they simply don't do market research in Japan. For instance there's introduced around 500 different brands of soft drinks every year in Japan....then they just pull the ones from the market that doesn't sell. I know for a fact that even in the automotive industry they don't really do market research - at least not in the traditional sense*. So I was wondering if you knew what Nintendos stand was on the subject. It would be pretty amasing if they never did any market research and still were able to produce such successful products - making the company even more remarkable in my book * In one instance they send the designers to live in Germany for a couple of months before designing a car for the european market...

I really don't know but it would be amazing considering that almost all their home and handheld consoles made an impact worldwide!

Ok, finally managed to get a virtual boy machine for 90 euros (it's really difficult to find one in Europe for a decent price!!). For the moment I don't have any game for it but since some people in here own one can you tell me what the machine does when you press the on button? Should the screen light or something? I just want to know if the machine works as it should..

Thank you, I've managed to find the manual myself and it seems that the machine doesn't light up without a game in the cartridge slot so I guess I have to buy a game or two to check if it's operating properly..

Got mario tennis a few days ago and indeed it's working as it should. I have to say that I'm impressed. The 3D effect is very nice although it's a bit tiring after a while. The depth isn't always convincing but you can tell when most items are in front of others and in general I'm glad I got it. I can see why this console didn't do very well though. Its monochrome display was a bit outdated back then, not many software titles (and most of them a bit disappointing) and your eyes are strained after a while. Nice idea but not properly implemented.
I eagerly await for the 3DS although some people have reported eye strain with it as well! We'll see.
