I've read a few of your comments in the chat-part of this forum, but I think it's time for a real thread about the soccer-event of 2008! Who do you think will win the european championship of 2008? I think Italy, Portugal & Craotia have a good chance and Russia is a very dangerous outsider. After all; they have Guus Hiddink as a coach and he has performed miracles with OZ and South Korea in the past. Regards, Pieter

I favor Russia to be a surpise at this tournament. Germany, Portugal and Italy are always favorite to reach the final! We'll see!

Just got to work after getting up at 4:30am to watch sweden Vs Greece. I was so dissapointed with Greece. Congratulations to Sweden as they deserved to win. Greece never looked like scoring except for Karagounis at the 60th minute mark where he screwed up twice. Abramovich's goal was fantastic. Thundering shot from outside the box. As I said, Greece was woeful. If Rehagel thinks they are going to win the tournament with that kind of negative football tactics, then he has another thing coming to him. They are the current European Champions and this is how they play? It's bordering on the line of embarrasement! That 2nd goal that Greece copped was atrocious. Kyrakiou, known as the "axe" went down like a sack of potatoes! Didn't even fight for the ball!
I tell you what against Russia, Hiddink is going to have them fired up and I wouldn't be surprised that they put 5 goals on Greece if they continu with their negative tactics.
Spain was absolutely awesome against Russia. So far the teams to beat are Portugual, Netherlands,Spain & Germany. My money is still on Germany. Hey Mike, Let us know how the front page of the Greek Newspapers are describing last nights performance!

If you can read greek in your browser then you can see for yourself here: www.flash.gr/kiosk They aren't happy of course. But I don't really care what some journalists who don't know the first thing about football say. 4 years ago they were condemning Rehagel for his choices and we won the Euro! Sweden had 3 chances for a goal and they managed to score 2. That's all. They were extremely lucky. Rehagel was obviously going after a draw with only one offensive player in the field. Actually the way we played wasn't so much different than what we did 4 years ago. The difference now is that all teams know about it and they won't fall for it twice! They're better prepared. This time you have to play differently and I'm not sure we can. In my opinion, just participating in the tournament is a feat itself. Euro is a lot more difficult than the World cup because there are many good european teams in it. Let's just hope we manage to get some good results before the players return home (and they will after the preliminary round). Michael

Hello Michael! Yes we were lucky! But i still think we deserved to win. Portugal looks very good! And never underestimate the Germans. Bacco We dont have Abramovich in our team but it would be nice Super-Zlatan can take us far in this tournament. Go Hellas!

Err.. I'm confused, are you talking about Sweden ? Of course they deserved to win. If not for the way they played, at least for one great player: Ibrahimovic! He just needed one chance and managed to score! Unfortunately we don't have such players in our team. But at least I got to see Greece as European champions in my lifetime! I don't think this will be repeated for many many years to come (if ever!) !!! And just by qualifying (first in our group) to this tournament we showed that our achievement 4 years ago wasn't all luck! Let's just hope they play decently in the next two matches - that's all I'm looking for! Michael

Hi Björn: Henrick Larsson is a player of the swedish team, we really appreciate here in Barcelona. He was and still is, one the most professional players i have ever seen, even at his age.

I hope tomorrow NL will play against France as perfect as they played Italy. If last Monday wasn't an incident, then NL can come very far. We'll see!

Hi Pablo! Yes Larsson is a great player, but not as fast as he used to be! The greatest Swedish player in my favourite team in La Liga is Patrik Andersson. Tot el Camp Es un Clam!!!!......

Thanks guys! Can somebody pinch me please?! We played against Italy and France, world champion and runner up and we're already through to the next round as group winner in the group of death and scored 7 (!) goals. What is happening?

Fantastic game by the Dutch! Sweden will have to beat Spain today to win the group. Otherwise we face incredible Holland in the End round if we make it through. I also hope that Greece wins today! Heja Sverige! Go Greece!

Congrats Pieter!! France dominated most of the game but still you managed to score 4 goals! Amazing! You'll probably face Sweden in the next round so good luck to both of you!
For the moment Netherlands are my favorite to win this tournament if they manage to win Spain in the semi-final!
